Skid pad numbers are fine, but I find they bear little relevance to real world handling capability. The turbo Legacy will destroy any of those car in foul weather, too.

True.
The only real info a skid pad gives would be who can drive around a circle the fastest.

swaybars do sooo much. a stock 2.5rs does a .82g's on a skidpad. a wrx has softer suspension and narrower rims (but the same width tires). it pulls a .87g.
Assuming the rs doesn't have a lead roof, the only difference is the swaybars. the rear bar on a rs is 13mm, the wrx its 20mm.
The rs has much more oversteer, making it easier for "joe idiot" to save his ass after he entered that turn too hot. A la honda.

sounds like a really nice setup! how do you find the VF23 on a 2.2? i would have thought it would be a tad too small for that? upgrade to a TD05 it flows about the same as a VF22(5cfm difference between the 2) it will give you some more top end and responds to high boost and highflowing better than IHI turbos, how much HP is that at the wheels?

Actually, I think that a VF23 would be a pretty good match for the 2.2t at 15psi. Like you mentioned, high end would drop off compared to a larger turbo. However, it would be awesome for a daily driver.

yes the vf 23 is ball bearing.
it works very nicely with the ej22t.
the way I have things set up i my redline is 6500 rpm with full boost at around 2500 rpm. I would have no problem running 20 psi with this set up as long as I had the injectors.
but I am building this other motor so I have not done much with this for a while.

Wouldnt 20PSI on a VF23 be way outside its range at high RPMs?

I think you might be right, Ciper.
Alot of the wrx (2.0L engine) guys haven't had success with the vf-series (even the vf-22) at high (~20psi) boost levels. Any that did, made short work of the turbo . . . within months.

I disagree that 20 psi on an ej22t is out of the vf23's efficiency range. I have ran mine to 19-20 psi with very good results
this was due to a boost spike problem I was haveing with my greedy profec ebc. other than my dutycycle being at 100% by 12-13 psi no problems including no knock or detination. I wouldn't recomend doing this without proper fuel.

i have to disagree, maybe their setup was poor, but there are plenty of guys running around 20psi on this turbo without problems, but in saying that the VF22 isn't as reliable at high boost as the mighty TD05!!

yeah if you need to push more than 20 psi there is always the t-88
that would be efficient at high boost. might be alittle laggy on aur motors though.
