The reason I like my BF is that I can use so many WRX parts to power it up such as the TD05, 4pot front brakes, etc.

The first gen GC8 WRX's were just BC RS running gear thrown into a short wheelbase light weight car.

After the BC/BF's when they went TT it all went wrong for the Legacy. Until the current model which is very nice to drive, but it is only nice to drive because it has a CR of 9.5:1 and with a Ti twin scroll turbo, AVCS, of course it is going to make massive bottom-mid range torque. I don't know what they would be like to use as a base for a competition engine though. But anyway, it is a bloody nice car to drive.

The recession of the early 90's hurt every car maker, and least of most Subaru, according to the sept 93 issue of carguide magazine. But still I never realized the numbers in the US to be like that. I wonder what their like in Canada. GM stepped in 2002? I thought beforehand.

I almost prefer the 90-94 Legacy over the newer ones. The 95-99's don't really have anything over the BC-BF's other than the leakyhead gasket 2.5L or the single exaust port 2.2L

I have no problem buying or telling someone to buy a 200K mile BC-BF for $500 instead of spending $5,000 to $10,000 for a 95 to 99. Chances are you could have the same problems in either one. They are just very reliable and very tough cars. I only paid $200 for my beater and I do beat the crap out of it. I constantly rev the 200K old motor to 6'500 RPM's just trying to blow it up, but it just keeps on taking it. I jump it off every hill I go over, and it just laughs. I love these cars.

I don't know about the rest of you but I already own a performance sport sedan AND it predates the Impreza.

Oh and didn't Subaru build the Impreza because of the Legacy WRC?

What he said.

How many times have you read how the impreza isnt mod'd much or purchased as often in Japan because they would rather have the legacy?

I'll tell you this from my experience, Legacies are everywhere in Tokyo. Imprezas are a rare sight.

Yea, rereading what I said, completely fubar'd that up, lol. Subaru made another Performance sedan because of our cars. My bad.

I too over looked Legacys. I wish I hadn't. We got our legacy feb. and after fixing somone elses mistakes we fell in love with it. we just got back from a trip to Verginia Beach VA. from north west Arkasas. We averaged 26 to 27 mpg running between 70 & 80 mph. The car was stable and comfertable never missing a beet, pulling mountain hills at 80 mph in 5th gear and accelerating some time around big SUV's that couldn't keep up.These car are truly under rated. Sssshhhhhh. don't tell, every body will want one.
