See? It wasn't rsstiboy's fault at all. THAWA, you fell into the classic "blame the victim" thought pattern that this country is gripped by, and Steve has my same contrary opinion.

Let's say I bought a new ear-cleaning device for only $19.95 plus shipping and handling off some TV program. I go to use it only to have it cause a buildup of wax in my ear and force me to go to the hospital for a dizzy spell that made me crash my car into a telephone pole. Are you going to tell me I'm to blame for buying that contraption? I just bought it because I wanted an easier way to clean my ears out. It's the maker's fault for selling me that garbage and ripping me off. That's immoral and not the way business should be conducted. He should be 100% responsible for my hospital bill and my car repair bill.

I'm not saying that's the way it works, but that's the way it SHOULD work.

Locking our cars doesn't really do much at all to keep people out
(although I DO lock mine, mind you). Even if they didn't want to make a scene by smashing a window, you can grab the top of our frameless windows and just pull like hell, and it will bend out about 45 degrees or more. Easily far enough to reach right in and do what you like. I tried it at a junkyard on an L wagon that had a broken outside doorhandle, and the other door was pushed up against another car. I couldn't believe how far that thing pulled out!

Even esier was the old G-body GM cars. My ex had a Monte Carlo SS and that thing got broken into all the time. You could pull the window over an inch from the car and stick anything in to pull up the door lock plunger. The time that pissed me off the most was when they actually destroyed the lock (and door skin and center console) and caused a shit load of damage for a $100 CD player. She thought of leaving it unlocked from then on as at least they wouldn't destroy the damn door.

rsstiboy I apologize for saying it was your fault, and take back all my previous comments about you, but the way it was presented looked like it was your car was unlocked and hit the other. Sucks that this happened the way it did, and I feel for you, you did nothing wrong.

Subyluvr, I didn't fall into the "blame the victim" syndrome. I fell into the "not enough information provided from the victim, so it looked like the victim was the perp" syndrome. As for your analogy, yes you're partly to blame for buying it. You bought it on your own accord because you were lazy and wanted an easier way to do things. How many people every year get a wax build up by using q-tips to clean their ears? Yes the manufacturer should've done more testing to see any adverse reactions someone would have, and should pay for your bills, but had you not bought it you wouldnt be in this mess in the first place. What you just explained is a classic example of placing the blame on someone else. This is exactly like the person that bought coffee from McDonalds, had it spill in their lap and then sued them for medical bills. Are you saying the entire blame rests upon mc donalds for selling hot coffee? Or like the people that break into anothers house, slip and break their neck then sue the owners and win. Are you saying the entire blame is on the owners? You did say that's the way it SHOULD work right? This is the kind of crap I'm sick of seeing in this country. People that cant take responsibility for their actions.

Whoever left their car unlocked is definitely not to blame. It would be the same as blaming a pedestrian walking on the sidewalk for being hit by a drunk driver.

I just wish people would take more care of their belongings. its not the fact that my car was damaged, its more the inconvenience of being without a car whilst its being repaired.

total bummer man. That is a sweet ride.
