04-05. What year works that isn't pre-bugeye?
I thought they made some pretty significant changes to 05 sti suspension, something about the hub brackets....

They did make significant changes but the springs will still swap across. Most manufacturers make a sping for the '04 and a diff one for the '05 STi due to the suspension changes.

What changed? And what do manufactures make different about the springs?

They changed the front diff. to a helical type, they reprogrammed the DCCD and added a yaw sensor, changed the steering rack, changed the lateral links to lighter AL ones, bumped up the front swaybar size, different hubs, wider wheels, and I'm pretty sure the strut mounting points are different. That's all I can think of, but there very well might be more. Not everything is directly the suspension, but it affects the spring rates you would use.

Oh, so they didn't change the dimensions of the springs, they just changed the spring rates?

Yes. I've never heard of any company making a spring longer or shorter for the different years, but I suppose it's possible.

I believe the only difference between the 04 and 05 STi suspension is that the front spindle is bigger, so the holes are spaced 3" apart instead of 2.5, and the flanges are about a 1/4" farther apart. I had a set of 05 suspension for about a week, and have pictures of the flanges with a measuring tape for scale if anyone wants to see them. Also the struts are black instead of cherry red. I don't know if the rates changed, but I don't think they did. It's also possible that there are two different 04 rear springs, having different top diameters.

hehehe. Define the test parameters given for testing the rate? From free length? At loaded height? At block?
Yeah, cut your toenails.

Neat. That's lower than my 04 stock STi springs. Now I want some.

Spling spling!
My Legacy has a low rear too. I think it looks odd, but it's just fine from the driver's seat.

More info and a new pic of ride height. Still needs to be higher, but what can you do?
