Nice, mid engine is awesome. At least now I won't be confused if I see a NSX on campus...lol

i find that the MSN site sometimes show wrong horsepower/torque ratings so i rarely ever use it anymore.

What about a small NOS system? Anyone running it? Will it wreck my engine?

mmmm, wouldn't reccomend NOS, but it is the cheapest, easiest power.
I think the Ej22t could take it the best, but still....

At low boost (4 psi), I was running 60-80 shot of nitrous. Took me from 16.8 to 14.8 in the 1/4 mile. Clutch failed eventually due to the extra 100 hp though.

The s4 is suposed to do it in 15.1 stock and the SS is 16 stock.
NOS should make me faster is the Auto tranny holds up.

it probably won't...if you absolutely want to though, get a tranny cooler.

I am probubly better off sticking to mods that will make the car last and not kill it for one race. If the NOS was safe I would try it for sure though. Would it damage the engine if used properly? Any long term problems. I am planning on a 5spd swap anyway if the tranny would be my only issue.

well, a small squirt of NOS probably wouldn't do anything, but too much at once, or too many times, and you'd probably do some damage...

If you really want to beat this guy THAT bad, just take a grand, buy the nearest AWD DSM you can find, cut off the exhaust, pull the line off the wastegate actuator, drop in some race gas and youre good(for a couple passes anyway)

Yeah, but the guy was challenging his Subaru, not his DSM...

Kelley, from perfection motorsports has been seeing 260 chp coming off of a good tune on the wrx turbos.
I believe it was 260, at least. His tlegacy would outrun his sti when all it had was the autronic ecu with a tune, a vf23, tbe. I don't believe he was running any larger injectors at that time, but you'd have to ask him to know for sure.
I bet you he could give some good comments as well. I don't think you'd need to change your heads to beat that car, but I don't know for sure. Plus, you don't need to make 300 chp to beat him since he is heavier than you.

but just in case, you probably want to make that much, considering he's probably still building his car up...

I'm just sayin... I mean its gonna take pretty much a full build up if he wants to beat the guy by more than a nose. These cars are NOT cheap to make fast, and I'm using the term "fast" quite loosely here as I dont consider 13-14 second cars to be "fast." But I have yet to hear of a turbo legacy (north american, not EJ20) be anywhere out of the high 14s anyway...

im high 14's with a little water and alot of luck. like i said earlier. unless your pockets aint empty, your not taking this s4 or a4 for that matter. chipped jettas are side by side or ahead of me and thats with crappy launches from the jetta.

what about alcohol injection? I don't know much about it, but xcntrk (with an EJ20t swap) has that system in his car, and its doing a ton for him with a 50/50 (alcohol/distilled water) going into his fuel line (fuel management, of course)

thats just like race gas. you can run more boost with it but by itself doesnt do that much

ok... I've got quite a lot of experiance on this. I tune Motronic 2.3.2 and have done quite a lot of work on AAN cars. Audi guys make terrible horsepower claims. On the dyno and on the drag strip, the cars are never nearly as fast as they claim to be. If he had to put a spring in the wastegate or turn the wastegate preload, he's probably running an MTM chip or some hacked variant of it. MTM totaly foobed on the AAN and it's one of the worst softwares I've seen on the ME 2.3.2. MTM chip claims 280hp... it's not near that. One of my best friends has an AAN with RS2 Manifold, turbo, injectors and MTM chip. 3" Stromong exhaust. He runs in the high 14's at best in the 1/4 and his fastest is 97mph. That puts him about 265 wheel hp when running 28psi of boost. My 90 wagon stock NA EJ22 with a Toyota CT-26 turbo and intercooler on it running 10psi runs just as fast as his car. The nearly 1000lbs less weight the scoob has to move makes up for the difference in power (curb weight for an UR S4 is about 3800lbs). On street runs I can run right next to any of the S4's around and the lighter subaru gets out of the dig WAY faster, so I can easily get a car length on them.
You can eat that S4 with some carefully thought out mods... don't be to worried.

Nice to see some advise from someone who knows s4's . Everyone else doesn't seem to give me a chance. I know it aint going to be cheap but the tleg will be fast when I am done. Only race day will tell the true story. I will get some pics up to follow the whole story.
PS I sent this link to my bud and he is all choked now!! Nice work taking him down a notch Sammydafish!!

i have a 16g fmic tbe and a mbc running 16 psi. bunch of various little tidbits. with a 5spd there wouldnt be any competition, id stomp them all day but with the auto ive never gotten faster than 14.94 and my tranny suffered dearly for it.
