Huh, I've never heard of the "whiteline roll center adjustment kit." Sounds good. I'm glad I keep hearing new things!

By the way, I don't think anyone's commented on strut braces. I hear they don't make a big difference on Subarus because our strut tops in front are close to the firewall, but what is the first hand experience of anyone here?

Yes Jamal, can you expand any on these roll center adjustment kits? My ball joints are going and well... why not go all out the first go around?

Soul, I have installed a FSTB and while I haven't really pushed it hard I have noticed an increased feel in solidity of the front. It takes bumps better and there are definately a lot less squeks and creaks. Until you really upgrade the suspension you won't notice much effects but I think it is noticable.

yeah, the whiteline thing is brand new, and awesome. Extended ball joints to raise the roll center, with new tie rods to compensate for bump steer.

Linky

Not only does it decrease body roll by moving the roll center closer to the center of gravity (so without increasing spring/swaybar rate), it improves the camber curve so there is less loss of negative camber during compression. win-win, Subaru should have done it in the first place.

I have strut tower braces but haven't really noticed much. I hear the fender braces do stuff maybe too, and you can get them for $60 a pair now so I might try it out.

Actually, I took my rear brace out to fit some stuff in my car, and I did notice extra squeaking.

You could say that about every other thing in any car--truth of the matter is that ease of manufacture always will take priority in anything mass-produced. Sad, I know... :(

Once you see clean ATF coming out of the return line, your system is flushed and full of fresh ATF.
I just tried this--without an assistant, but that's okay because I didn't get far enough to need one before making a MASSIVE GODDAMN MESS. ATF EVERYWHERE--even in my mouth, and that honestly couldn't have been avoided!

Although it all of that could have been avoided if I had drained the reservoir using my syringe FIRST. I wound up using the method of extracting fluid from the reservoir using a large syringe and replacing it, then doing it again.

After disconnecting the return line and getting ATF all over the engine, floor, and myself. I realized that even if I did then hook a tube up to the return line I'd have to drain the reservoir again so I didn't make a mess hooking it back up. And that I wouldn't mind--the real problem was the fact that the rubber hose on the return line was almost impossible to remove and even harder to get back on--and I'm only talking about slipping it on and off of one on the sides it's attached to. I don't think I could take it off completely with mere mortal strength.

God that sucked in so many unique ways.

IF I can figure out a way of removing that rubber tube on the return line without hiring a team of engineers or using super human strength, I may try again. Any tips?

here is a lengthy thread over at NASIOC discussing the bal joint extenders:

it has post from whitele in it.
