when owls eat little rodents and things they eat them pretty much whole, and cant digest the fur and bones. so they regurgitate a pellet of all that stuff wadded up. taking the pellets apart is a fun science project for elementary school kids.

hahaha I just found a huge ass pellet at the zoo today, biggest one I have ever seen. It was full of grey squirrel fur and bones. It was a great horned owl pellet, really neat to poke through
