Bushy tailed squirrels...

Post by Imprezive »

So, I ran over a squirrel on my way to school this morning...It had rained last night and the roads were still wet thanks to on and off drizzling throughout the morning. I had just left the house and I live in a somewhat remote area in comparison to where my college is located so there are animals about every now and then.

I usually just take it easy for the first couple minutes to get my car warmed up but this time I was in a bit of a hurry. I rounded a downhill right hander about 20 seconds away from my house and started gaining speed as that little bugger ran out about 50 yards in front of me. I was probably going about 60mph. I let off the gas and started to slow down gently thinking "of course he'll get out of my way he has plenty of time"

But what did he do? He ran back and forth a few times and then just froze in the road, by this time I was closing in on him and I couldnt believe he didnt get his ass outta there! Despite the fact that I was pressing on the brakes (that were no where near being heated up yet) as hard as i could without locking them up I couldn't slow down in time. All I could do was hope...

I heard a thump....

Poor little guy had no idea what hit him :(

I don't know what the hell is going on! This makes 3 animals I've killed on the road in the past 3 weeks. I swear every dear in and around our town has gone suicidal!

I came very very close to hitting a baby deer up in the mountains last weekend. Good thing I have good brakes and tires.

I have one of these pricks living in my house. Good ridance to it! I had one of thiose stupid things commit suicide under my tires once. I was watching him stand on a curb watching me drive towards him (which I thought was odd) and just as I was about to pass I caught him diving under my tire. Looking in the mirror, I saw head splashed up the street. He killed himself because even squirrels know they suck.

My worst one was accidentally running over a bunny. It only separated his leg, and the poor thing was shivering and it looked me dead in the eyes. :( I cried a little. I really did feel bad.

havent hit anything yet luckly
almost hit a turtle though, was doing about 70mph and i toped a hill and saw him slowly crawly to the ceter line, i figured i would stradle him so i crossed the center line and was hoping i wouldnt hear any thumps
but i passed by, a van passed the other way, i whatched the van in my rear view as he came up on the turtle, the driver locked the brakes and swerved into the other lane, i almost crashed i was laughing so hard, you would have thought he was trying to avoid a brick wall or something

I've hit several squirrels, an opossum (dumb ass tried to outrun me directly in line with my wheels), a couple rats, and an unrestrained Irish setter that came bounding out of the woods. Despite bouncing off the front fender and leaving hair on the tire from where I think I ran over his paw, the stupid dog was probably OK as it immediately got up and continued running after whatever imaginary thing it had been chasing to begin with. Almost hit a hawk that came flying across the road to catch something in the woods - I would've felt bad about that. Not the dog though - just pissed about the dilemma about whether to leave the carcass there or try to find the morons that owned it and let it just run around. I wouldn't have minded dropping the body on their doorstep if they'd have learned a lesson from it, but people are stupid tailless monkeys and would probably have blamed me for their negligence.

Steve, you need a vacation, my friend. Come to Florida, enjoy tropical weather and audition me for your movie. :) Maybe some warm weather and hot babes on beaches could improve you opinion of humanity?

Hehe,

You really wouldn't feel bad about hitting the poor dog?

I don't do vacations, though I could use another trip to Italy.

That dog was stupid and so were its owners. I don't feel bad anytime stupid is taken from the world. There's enough stupidity to go around (there are only so many factories to fill with workers) and, no offence, Florida seems to collect more than its fair share. There are plenty of hot chicks up here, it's intelligence (not just education) and interesting personalities that are lacking. A lot of the problem is that they're all young college girls. Sounds like a great problem to have, but I'm sick of them and the single chicks my age are the rejects. I don't like Florida - humidity, bugs, bad restaraunts, old people, and flat landscape. Really, I just don't like people. I wouldn't even bother with women if it weren't for these useless hormones that cause me to waste money and time. Sex? WTF, I hate kids (hated being one even)! I hate drama, I hate diseases, and I like having a bed to myself. Overall, being alone is a small sacrifice I hardly mind making. If I end up rich I decided I'm not giving most of it away - I'm going to buy an island in the Med, build a self-sufficient house on it, and live alone until eventually my language will degrade to the point of being indecipherable to everyone else but me. Some of the prices I've seen are pretty reasonable.

Its funny to see them do that.

I think intellegent people owe it to society to reproduce. I also think reproduction should be a licensed privilege  .

Absolutely. An implantable device that effectively sterilizes a person should be attached to everyone at birth and can only be removed upon passing an exam.

I really cannot wait to get my hands on your finished book Steve. Seriously.

After all the garbage I've been reading for my Creative Writing degree in college that passes itself off as being classic just because it's old, your book will be most refreshing.

I had a midterm today, 35% of which was on Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility. After reading about a hundred pages of it, I gave up and reviewed it on Sparknotes. The whole fucking thing is one big Ricki Lake show, except the characters are much harder to keep track of.

And would you believe there is a society dedicated JUST to Jane Austen?

2 more months... 2 more months...

Anyway, end of my own rant. Yeah, if you do decide to come down here for some reason Steve (I agree; I don't know why you'd want to), we should meet up. I think we'd get along well, however ironic that may sound

I ran over a squirrel with my bike when I was a kid once. That's all I got.

There'll be a website too, as if the Evolution Movement were real. The sterilizing people is in there. Evolutionmovement.org (it's not up yet).

I'm not sure how refreshing my book will be, but I definitely don't do flowery prose. This thing's taking so damn long to come out it'll be old by the time you read it, too. It'll be worth it, though, as the changes my editor suggested have made the book infinitely better.

Believe it or not, I actually get along with most people very well. It's just few that I enjoy getting along with. Actually, as a telecom contractor, I end up working with a lot of intelligent people with a similar attitude.

Someone hit a skunk and flung it into the path of my mother's old Altima and she clobbered the sucker good. The smell was unbearable for weeks and even the detailing place couldn't get rid of it. It was llike that Seinfeld episode with the BO vallet.

back when I had my 85 Monte Carlo it was the Carrie for animals. The list was disturbingly long on the car, and I always did my best to avoid the animals, 4 squirrels, 2 robins, 1 king fisher(felt bad about that), 1 owl (saw whet only critter that made it, got him to rehab), 1 mink, 1 opossum, a few song birds, 1 bunny. The ironic thing is I have devoted my life to caring for animals and am a zookeeper

I almost ran over my ex once, but the light was poor and shes quick!

Seriously though, had a cat run out in front of my from between two cars once. Felt bad. tracked down the owner who had two young daughters so I agreed to take care of the body so he could pretend it just ran away or something.
