While you're looking at pulling ABS sensors, how about the front driver side one for me? My zip code is 44118.

high five for needing a similar, but not exact part.. hehe
Oh and the secret to pulling these... LOTS of WD-40 to soak overnight... well, mine was from illinois, so yeah, it rusted in a bit... I used antiseize on my good ones I reinstalled. they can come out if I so desire with minimal effort! yay

strangely enough the sensors on this and the other SS that I used for my 5mt swap are not seized in place even though we get a bunch of rain around here. I think it has to do with the lack of salt being put down on the roads.
They are soaking in PB blaster right now as a precaution.
Just so everyone knows that has requested parts:
I am working on a bathroom remodel and trying to keep my wife happy with all the other things that I need to do around the 'stead. I will be pulling parts, negotiating prices/shipping ASAP.

Thanks!
Wait, to be clear -- I'm talking about the sensor itself, not the toothed wheel.

if it were those wheels, the "tone wheel" as it's called, it'd be a cinch.. though you have to pull the hub from the spindle with a decent amount of force after you remove this huge retainer clip, I think it's only about 20ft-lbs of torque they are tightened down with. *quite small bolts really...
the sensors not being badly stuck is wonderful! Oh and it adds to ease of removal, to place a wedge like a flat blade screw driver under the tab that has the bolt hole for removal... If it's bent a little, it's no biggie.
THOUGH, I've HAD to pry it away from to tone wheel by way of hammer and chisel.. *on the broken one* I replaced all four bearing sets and have fresh tone wheels in my parts cabinet, so I wasn't worried..

but this does usually kill the buggers..
hehe, one has to be careful that while removing one thing, three things dont follow... in it's line of needing replaced.
OH and I made another silly mistake once, I stopped half way through on a spindle rebuild one time on my leg, two weeks later, I'm at the press *hand crank style* and I had that biotch with all 55 tons of force and could not figure out WHY on earth it was taking this much. Then it hit me... as the end of my spindle EXPLODES..... I hadn't removed the clip... It's merely holding the bearing on a lip in cast steel, but it held all the way until the 55 ton mark. now those of you removing the bearings wont make my silly mistake hopefully..

I wish I could say I was "testing" the spindle for scientific reasons.. but meh..

hows the water pump and thermostat housing/ water outlet?
if its still usable and complete i would be interested to 30102
thanks!
disassembly started

I have started disassembly and will be contacting everyone to get the total costs nailed down.
sorry it has take so long. I over committed myself on another project and had to get it done before I could move onto this.
re the water pump and thermo housing: not sure on the housing and I assume that the pump is ok considering the DH PO drove it straight into a round-a-bout and pretty much sheered the car off at exhaust manifolds/pan

Any chance of getting the gauge cluster shipped to 97601?
Posted: Wed Jan 23, 2008 5:50 pm
by head2wind
guage cluster: yes- I will work on getting a quote to you as soon as I can.
awdwagon: ya, it is a bummer that it got totaled. the exhaust system got completely sheared off the bottom of the engine... ripped the studs out of the heads, almost cut the pan in half, squished the x-member to the point where the rack is all messed up, shoved the whole trans/engine back to the point where it bent the rear drive shaft. the real crapper deal is that he ran it after doing this.... without the oil filter (cuz it got sheared off too)... for "3-4 blocks because he just got his license back and he didn't want to loose it again"..... ya. what you said. x4... claims to have had no idea that the exhaust and the majority of the oil and water were left at the scene.

BTW it turns out some of the damage was from the towing company. The car sat in their yard for a week before I had it towed to tacoma and it left a puddle the size of lake washington in the driveway.
