About to do Clutch. What should i know/do.

Oh, i almost forgot, when i drop my tranny, will i at any time need to pull my front wheels off? Reason i ask is because i don't have my lug nut key anymore, and every nut is a key type.

That trans will hold up just fine, the differences between stock turbo and NA are greatly exaggerated, and many of the phase I turbo designs are incorporated in Phase II NA's (HP/torque of the 2.5 is nearly that of the 2.2T). However, being phase II, the synchros are not as robust as the phase I transmissions, but do give smoother shifts.

You can drop the trans with the wheels attached and axles still bolted up.

you rock sir. Thanks for your reply. It was a burning question. So syncros not so robust?? so as long as i dont slam through the gears she will be ok, yeah?

With that amount of mileage, I would not worry too much, but the design is not as tough as the phase I. There are less dogs, and they changed the cone/mesh so that the gear slowed down more efficiently before a shift, at the expense of increased synchro wear. If you rev match anyway, it wont matter - and they do work better, but they just don't last quite as long.

BTW, those ratios are based on old North Ursula data, so I'm only 98% sure they are correct. My compiled tranny chart has not failed me yet, but I'm still not confident enough to publish it....
