I did not have my block halves machined when I did my cometics, they lasted me 3 years.

That's pretty much what I've heard as well.

I used Ridgereamer to deck my block for the ej236t build. The surface of the block was not smooth at all. It was a swirly rough pattern...perfect for the composite stock ej22t HG. There might be some pictures of the surface in my build thread.

I did not specify a finish when I dropped it off. Just followed their recommendation.

Also curious I have the option of ej20g heads good condition that should just slap right on as well. Should I go that route cause time is getting kinda hard and need to get this motor done to have a vehicle once again. Also if so on the ej20g heads what price would they go for normally? Thanks

I think you can get a set with intake manifold for about 300 bucks.

Well my buddy has the heads and mani but I dont want to cut him short of money cause not like me so rather get a fair price for him on it as I would feel better. So knowing a price helps me out.

Another thing confused on as have been reading this article: http://bbs.legacycentral.org/viewtopic.php?t=38247
I am going with EJ20G heads and manifold and trying to figure out what I need all in all. Like will EJ22T head gaskets work on the motor, also for manifold would ej22t gaskets work or need different ones from wrx 2.0. Would appreciate some more answers on this. Thanks

If you have a turbo legacy MT or another "pull" style clutch transmission, you can use a turbo legacy flywheel or a 2002 - 2005 WRX (pull style clutch) flywheel. If you go with a WRX flywheel you should also use a WRX pressure plate & clutch.

Are you wanting the part #'s for the stock turbo legacy power steering lines?

If so, have you downloaded the parts book in this thread and looked in there?

Yes Josh, looking for stock part numbers so I can figure out how to replace them as want new if I can get them. I will have to look in that after work tomorrow unless your so kind to post them for me. I did download the manual so need to check it out also. Thanks. Also I am trying to find EJ20G valve cover gaskets and what not and based on what I been reading people say a 96 Legacy GT will fit, can you confirm this if so would like to order them.

Sorry I'm just replying now, this week has been pretty ridiculous. If you still need the numbers, it'll be tomorrow befor I can look through the parts book.

Regarding the valve cover gaskets, have you looked at this thread in the sticky compilation thread?

I can confirm that if you have the impreza ej20g heads, the 1996 Legacy GT valvecover gaskets will fit.

If you have the old legacy ej20g heads, you'll have to source them from overseas as we didn't get anything with that style gaskets.

Josh, in that picture is a torque plate, used to machine the block so it stays round and in shape basically what I have been told. Keeps the cylinder in its shape so when you bore it out it does not change the diameter like taking it out of its roundness. My buddy at his shop recommended them as he does motors and motor builds all day and has seen some negative impacts when those were not used. Also I did source the power steering lines needed so appreciate that as well. Mike-tracy thanks on that info I will need to check it out and double check for the valve cover gaskets. I am waiting by either tomorrow or early next week for the machine shop to be done with the motor and then I can reassemble everything and get it going.
