Looks nice! How soon before it's on the road?

I'm still hoping for this weekend, cause that's my clubs (mnsubaru.com) fall cruise. It could happen if everything goes right...but that never happens...

Trust me, I know how that goes. I've been waiting on people who have a welder to be free so that I can modify the uppipe & downpipe to clear the 2.5 intake manifold.

It runs, and left my garage under it's own power for the 1st time ever tonight. There's some kinks to be ironed out, and LOTS of tuning to do, but it runs. As far as I can tell boost comes on at about 2500rpm's too...I'm happy.

well, I figured I'd bump this up. We finally got the car out on the street about a week ago. I got one good pull under boost, which was awesome, and then we were tuning it when it developed a rod knock...so it's getting torn back out of the car. I'm hoping it just needs rod bearings, cause I really can't afford to completely rebuild the bottom end atm.

That's a complete bummer! I'll likely be doing this to my wife's '98 LGT in replacement of her aging Phase 1 2.5. She doesn't want to go backwards with the EJ22E so I'll end up going with the exact same thing you're doing. Keep us updated!!

yeah, I need to go pick up the engine crane from a friends house, then teardown will begin. I should know what happend by next week hopefully. This is just one more annoyance that makes me wish I would have gone with a complete WRX swap...oh well.

Nah, you're still building a stronger motor than going with the partial closed EJ205 block.

Well, I figured I could probably update this thread.
It's been over a year since the car went into the garage, and it's still there. The motor is still in the car, and quite honestly hasn't been touched since January. I made the decision that if I'm tearing it all apart again, I'm not putting it back together with out building it how I want it.

So hopefully it will be getting Wiesco's and Eagle Rods and all balanced sometime this summer. I had the money to build the motor, and then I ended up having to buy a new DD, which is continuously giving me trouble and needing more of my car $$$ I'm thinking of selling the DD to fund the motor and then I'll borrow a car and the Legy will be the DD when it's back together...

So in short, my car's still broken because I'm poor.

Bringing this thread back up. Building a 22T stroker with Phase 1 Ej25 DOHC heads and Intake manifold. I was reading that there are clearance issues with the 25 manifold? The plan is to get a WRX ECU and Harness and send it to Iwire to have it merged. What all is needed. Putting the motor together is the "easy" part.

Wiring is where I am at a loss. This will be going into a 95 Legacy (OBD II). Should we just hunt down a turbo manifold instead?

The under the manifold intake won't with without some mods to the manifold. Go over to rs25, in the diy section and check out the diy wrx ecu swap thread. Even with a merge harness all the engine specific parts and sensors mentioned in that thread will have to be used. That said I'm working on figuring out an easier way for use phase 1 guys to run that ecu.

Or just buy the standalone that I never used because this car never came to be. The JDM ej20k intake manifold is the only one I know of that will bolt to the 25d heads and is setup to have the turbo intake tube pass under it like the wrx's do. I have one of those too haha
