My friend and I used to go off-road and I have to admit, his front wheel drive was awesome.
I think I liked driving it more than mine if I was trying to get the back end loose. It was super
easy to dirt drift in. Mine had a lot more traction though and was much more capable off-road.

Also, I've seen my share of ditches out there ;) When you lose the car on Walmart tires going
around a mud corner in the rain at 50mph it can be hard to stop :/ Good thing everything was
squishy. You learn a lot by messing up though.

I'm interested in the last one if you can haha The others too, but I love dirt!

ball joint, outer tie rod end, steering knuckle on 93L. New ball joint came with a nylon locking nut and not a castle nut with pin...have not seen that before.

I personally wouldn't use just a nylon lock nut for that. It's either a Chinese plot to kill off Americans or a cost saver they don't think anything of since they have little regard for safety (who can blame them with so many people) or automotive standards (they haven't been making real cars long enough to know better. Also see: DeLorean, issues from being built in Northern Ireland).

Painted the horns, belt cover, and battery tie down green. Got some red that I'm gonna put on some of the nuts and bolts under the hood. I'll probably do a few other things in green too but for now I think its good. Sorry, no installed pictures cause I'm etting the paint set up overnight. I should have pictures tomorrow though.

lol i have this one gravel road about a car lenth width and tuesday i hauled ass on it lol i went back down and the dust was still at the beguning lol and today i did it again and i heard a clunk like a rock hit my floor lol it didnt sound like a pepble lmao so i may look for another road but ima try to get some pics after i get my td04 440 ic k&n filter and a few others ima make some skid pans for sure

Installed the green Forester horns, battery tie down, and belt cover. Painted the screws for the belt cover, washer fluid resivor, fuse box, coolant over flow tank red aong with the nuts for the battery tie down. Painted my wiper arms black. No more gross faded black and silver wiper arms! And I cleared my headights the ong way, with sand paper and cear coat.
Green Forester horns. Went with Forester horns cause they have a slightly higher pitch.

Today was a pretty probuctive day for me, I finally did the headlights and I got a color scheme in the engine bay. :)

Yeah...I've hit my share of rocks, stumps, potholes at speed. I've dented my rear floorpan up more times than I'd care to share, but you just go to the back, stomp it out and keep on driving ;)
How much do you expect to be pushing by then?

How much do you expect to be pushing by then?
idk how much but i wanna run like 13psi dd and weekends 15-17psi if im able idk i just got to make a fcd and buy a mbc then ill hook up all my gauges im also just gunna put a 3' are 2.5' exhaust off of the dp but for power idk what it gunna be probly not much but will feel better then stock then im gunna buy suspension well after my skid pans and i need mud flaps i got a lot of stone chips from driving 70-80mph down gravel roads lol it can be scary lol i got to stop be for i do wreck another car lol

I started with a power sander that had 220 on it, I had to get the old layers of clear off. Then I switched to 400 to get rid of the sander marks(learned the hard way about the marks it leaves), then I stepped up to 800, then 1000, then 2000, then I clear coated them. My reaction to the lighting difference, I don't need my driving lights anymore. I gained enought light that I was driving with them off last night. Once I got to 400 I didn't use the power sander, just went with the old back and forth sand by hand method. All in all it probably took a half hour or so after removing the lights from the car. I could have done the quick way and just used some Meguires Plastix for a quick clear. That doesn't last as long but you don't have to take the lights off the car either. Well you don't really have to take the lights off for either method but I live being able to sit inside while sanding the lights vs. standing infront of the car in the sun sanding the lights.

Never wrecked a car offroad, but I have went into a bit of water before :P That sounds like a cool setup, man.

Danny: Right. I always use the 3m kit and a drill. Seems to work well enough. I clear coated them this last time. Been about 2 months and it seems to be holding up pretty well. I ended up aiming my headlights up and out a bit and then use my foglights to clear the gap. Seems to work well that way.

yea i never wreckek off-road i just was driving in a bad snow storm on slicks lol not realy but almost that bad some. well suposivly i went sidways and the guy said he seen me way up the road well any ways he hit me driver side door my head smashed through the window i dont rember anything of that day and the preveous week. thats where im stumped ok he seen me going sideways like a quarter mile up the road y didnt he stop he should have been able. and i know i would have put my car in the ditch be for i het him. i had to do this once are twice lol..

I think he probly saw me a quarter mile up the road and just kept coming i think i was stoped probly and probly about to go but probly in shock that this van was coming toward me i think he just wanted a insurance claim to get a new car lol his whole front end was in on me there peices of his front end in my car lol so idk what hapend but it went down no fault weather

Took the front bumper beam off to move the driving light brackets further back and somehow I managed to knock a lense off a driving light in the process of removing the bumper cover, the lense broke when it hit the ground. Good thing I had a spare driving light but now they don't totally match. Left one has been baked and the right isn't now that the lense broke. Oh well, I'll probably get a set of non modded driving lights so they match again. Just gotta save some money and go to Wal Mart. Oh yeah I also put a fresh coat of paint on the bumper beam and light brackets. It was difficult mounting the bumper cover with no beam under it. I really wanna drive it with no beam just to see if I can feel a difference haha.

After three hours, I got the bumper beam back in, repaired the extensionson the horn wires, hooked the grounds for the fog lights to the harness, grounded each driving light to the ower headight bolt, and taped all the loose wires behind the bumper cover. The ony reason it took three hours was cause I took time to do it all right and tuck most the wires outta the way. All thats left is to adjust the left driving light, points a bit high.

Dang, looks good. I'm really not sure how much light output my car has now. I've never
tried taking a picture of it in comparison with anyone else's before.

Used 3M Headlight Restoration kit on my car and my gf's civic. Worked great except the wetsand pad disintegrated halfway through despite using lots of water.

Yeah, it works good. I ended up clear coating my headlights this time just
to see if it'd work and it's been on there for 2 months so far without any
issues. Still looks as clear as the day I used the 3M kit.

On the detailing forum they all said to sand it progressively finer and polish and wax them. Nobody mentioned clear coating. I clear coated my last set on my first legacy and a year later they were yellow again. I'll try the wax this time.

It needs to be UV blocking, but if it's like wood preservative, it probably doesn't work well unless it's tinted, which kind of defeats the point on headlights and annoys me with my teak yard swing.

I know me and I know I wouldnt be out there waxing. It's just too freakin hot in FL haha I figured this was worth a shot after all. I had a bunch of clear coat lying around.

Man...lacquer would be amusing to put on there.
These headlights arent anywhere near bright enough
stock though to think about tinting...I'll agree with you
on that point.

I figure if I can find a secondary set of headlights I can kind
of try different things at my leisure. Some day I'll find someone
parting out a Legacy on craigslist that'll sell me the headlight cheap.

Silicone Lubricant on the sun roof to try and stop that infernal squeaking noise, then time to finish up some accessories:


First Aid Kits are a must. At some point i think it would be fun to paint it
