Finally got the gears off the pinion shaft!

But need to tear down the 2nd tranny Reddevil ate so I can get the newer syncros that work with the LGT gears....

I never Dyno'd any of my Subarus (on a real dyno-lol) but I did strip 2nd gear within 1 month of turboing my Impreza OBS.
It sucked....

I also HATE pulling tranny's & it seems like I had to drop trannys a couple times when I did the Turbo tranny conversion for dumb reasons (Exedy 3 Puc ceramometallic clutch / HD p-plate was slipping like a MoFo after a few hundred miles of easy driving - so I swapped to a ACT)

Nice #'s & Good luck on the next tranny....

How solid are the LGT gears? I imagine my 5mt is going to give in soon after my car is running again, and I was told LGT gears are a good swap to go with.

Well, it turns out I am installing 07 Forester gears. MUCH beefier, but they require different sycro sets, so I am stuck till I can get time and a few new syncros...

So instead Reddevil has donated its tranny and that is currently sittin in the engine bay waiting for some help to get into place.

Up and running! Some issues of course....

800 cc injectors need some tuning, duh.
LOTS of oil and water to burn off, smoky smoky.
The tranny from reddevil is iffy.
Other than that, boost away!!!!

Running pretty damn swell.

Had MAJOR clunking though on bumps and decelleration, and it was getting worse.

So I swapped out the front sway bar endlinks for some "good" ones which helped. But not all the way.

So I go to swap axles, but notice a bolt that holds the tranny crossmember in (the 17mm one) is falling out! Yeah, that would make some clunking noise!

Before I owned the wagon, someone had broken off the welded nut for the 17, so installed a bolt instead. And you CAN NOT get anything into the bolt head area to keep it from spinning. So I impacted it as much as possible with a lock washer and then ran another 17mm nut to lock the first one in place.

sounds like what i did, the washers broke free so i put bolts and nuts in there. but you can get a wrench or screwdriver on them to keep em from moving.

Replace the old fuel pump today with a walbro 255. idle fuel pressure went from 2 bar to 2.375 bar. Boost psi went from 3.5 bar to 4 bar.

Still having some weird miss issues @ 4000rpm up, can't tell if rich or lean, hoping rich.

Clutch still wasnt holding. So I started @ 4pm and pulled the motor, replaced the pressure plate with the dual pressure plate from reddevil.

Now out to test.

Borrowed a PLX300 wideband today. I was HELLA rich! As in richer than 10-1....

I was also rich in cruising areas, so now I am getting better milage as well!

This is a prety good base tune, about 19 psi... Now to get to a dyno.

Having some issues with bog/misfire starting at about 4500 rpm in 3rd, all through 4th, suspect plug gap....

But.....

The dailydevil, all 3400 estimated lbs of it, went pretty quick. My best trap was 104.8 mph @ 13.6.

Best overall

60' 1.895
1/8 8.552
mph 83.03
1/4 13.365
mph 102.99

Gapped the plugs down to .028.

WAY NOTICABLE DIFFERENCE!!!!!!

Definately gonna get a high 12.XX come the next time out!

Drove to the coast and back this weekend. Put about 300 miles on the wagon and if I keep my foot out of it, about 25 mpg. Foot in lowers it to 20 or less.

So out I went to the track tonight....

Miss and bog was back, not as bad, but it was back.

So I watched (I cant log this info) my actual timing. As low as 27, about 29, while full boost. And I was pulling 12 to be safe. So I was as low as 15! I added back in timing and did another run. Better. Added a little more. Better. Left the timing and pulled some fuel. Pretty damn good. So I called it a night.

Best time was a 13.4 (best ever) and a 104.75 mph, best ever again. And unless I can dyno tune the heck out of it, I may not get a 12.xx afterall. The damn turbo is WAY laggy. Oh well, all I wanted originally for this wagon was 13.99!

But I may not be back, cause they wont let me race without a new windshield.

Found a cracked modded MAF, fixed.

Found IC piping falling off turbo. Fixed.

17 mph or less, but damn I love it!

Running 19 psi or so currently. 350ish whp? But NO bottom end. but still fun to drive.... Just have to cruise in the 4000 or better rpm range looking for "kills". :)

Oh Yeah do I get burned out..... There is a reason reddevil is still a shell..... And the sedan still isnt turboed. The only reason the dailydevil is boosted is well..... who can live without boost?
