Black to black abd green to green only. Never mix them up. Green should be stored memore and black should be active. Read josh' instructions again based off the info i have given you. Should help shed some light on his instructions.

Ok, so i drive and let it warm up (with all connectors disconnected). Turn car off. Connect green to green and black to black. Turn ignition to "On" position. Depress gas pedal, let go halfway and hold, then let go. Start engine. Drive till 4th gear. <-- that should erase codes?
Then to check current ones... unplug connectors, drive around, plug green connectors in, check codes? yeaa? lol

Ok, so when i depress the pedal and let go halfway, hold, then start car, this makes the cel go away while connectors are connected. But when i start driving, right when i shift to 3rd gear, the cel starts blinking (1/sec). and then when i disconnect, drive around, then plug black in to check codes.. it just blinks, no codes. What am i doing wrong?

You're not doing anything wrong. You've cleared the codes and a steady blinking CEL means there are no codes stored in the ECU.

And when i have greens connected and ignition in "on" position, near my MAP was clicking and my fans were turning on and off with about 2sec intervals... What's this all about?

Got this for $300. 3in turbo-back exhaust with a divorced downpipe. Not too sure about the brands. The catback is the ebay SRS which i've heard good reviews. As for the downpipe, the guy said something about "BPM" and it was like austrailian spec... he said it was good and that he had it on his vf43 and loved it.
Anyways, time for some pics soo strap in!

Ok, so I'm gunna attempt to pull the heads off soon to get em to a machine shop and get those exhaust valves fixed. Any tips or anything i should know before i have at it? I just take the intake mani off and all the accessories like alternator, a/c, resevoirs, etc., right? what about all the belts and tighteners off the front, do those have to come off?
Gunna try and get em off thrusday-sunday this week, think thats enough time?
anything will help, thanks!
EDIT: Do the valve covers AND camshafts come off with the heads altogether?

On Single cam heads you can pull them without taking the valve covers off. You do have to remove the cam gears and the lower left t belt pulley to remove the back timing covers. there's also a 10mm bolt that is on the drivers side head for the oil dipstick, and i "think" there's a 10mm bolt on top for the water lines. Pull the motor. If you're taking the heads in to get head work, take the cams off and pull the lifters or rocker assembly, it'll make it easier for the machinist.

Whoa... I thought I didn't have to pull the engine out to get the heads off.
And I'll remove the cams and rockers so i just send in head with the valves and valve springs in?

Is shooting for a goal of "having this all back together and running by the end of next month" a plausible goal for a first timer? lol

Have you downloaded the factory service manual from me? If not, do that and read through the procedure on pulling the heads. It gives you pretty detailed info.

Yea, ive got that download! and it's pretty awesome cause i'm very visual lol
I guess one of my bigger questions (the most nerve-racking) is removing the cams from the heads. When i put em back in, I have to oil with engine oil but is there a certain way to put em in for like alignment? or do i just put em in the head and they'll do their thing?

Cant fully remember about sohc cams but the dohc cams have a lip that sits in a groove on the head so they cant go in wrong (unless you put the wrong cam on the wrong side) the cams are marked too.

Use engine assmbly lube on all surfaces that contact eachother. You dont have to use a whole bunch on each spot. Just a nice thin coat on the cam bearing surfaces and the cam lobes..

You can't put the cams in wrong. One is longer than the other.

And yes, use assembly lube....not oil.

Arrghhh....the HeuBerger sticker is hurting my eyes....I hate free advertising for stealerships, especially Shortline Subaru who used to rivet their badge on.

Off with it unless you work there or they are paying you for advertising space!!!

My car originally came from Shortline. I wish those bastards didn't rivet their badges on. I can't stand the fact that it's still on my car and if I take it off it'll look really stupid

Yes you can drain the oil out of the left one.

Looks like you'll be needing a new passenger head. that #1 cylinder exhaust valve doesn't look so good.
