I have a 90 Legacy L AWD that I am only using for
rally crosses. I bought Redline 75W-90NS gear oil for
it because that seems to be the consensus in the
performance Impreza community. But, I am hesitating
using it because I think this is lower viscosity than
the Legacy manual calls for, though. Will this cause
me any problems? Should I still use it?
My synchros are shot. When the transmission is warm,
I need to double-clutch religiously to avoid crunching
in gears 1,2, and 3. Because I am rally crossing it
hard, my priority is easy shifting/quick
synchromeshing instead of long bearing life. But if
using lower viscosity is going to kill my transmission
in the next 10k-20k miles, it's not worth it. I'll
just sell the 75W-90NS on Ebay.
Let me know,
Thanks!
