Are there any clearance problems, for say the head bolts, to remove
heads from a '93 Legacy 2.2L without removing or raising the engine
from the car?
Any other clearance problems in removing the heads?
I know many years ago that in my '76 DL 1.6L the head bolts did not
come out far enough to remove the heads because the engine bay was
too small. I had to raise and tilt the engine up several inches to
remove the head bolts.
Thanks for any advice you may give on this subject.

I did that a few years ago on a 90 Leagcy L. If I remember right, it was a
tight fit on the drivers side, but I removed the heads without pulling or
raising the engine.Good luck, BillC

On my EJ22T i did not have to shift the motor to remove the heads. It is very tight on the driver's side though. I think I could remove all but one or two bolts from the head, but there is enough room to remove the head with the one or two bolts loose in the head.
