215/45/16's will they rub?

Post by czo79 »

I did a search but couldn't really find anything. I really assume that it wont be a problem, but just to make sure, does anyone know for sure that 215/45/16's won't rub? crappola, I don't know the offset of my wheels, that would probably be pertinant :) And I'm right in thinking 215's will fit on 7 inch rims right?
thanks

Offset is the big question. No way we can even guess without knowing!

I will say that I got the 205 55 16 potenze re-92 on WRX wheels to rub on ALL FOUR CORNERS. I assume you wont be driving like a girl (or why would you need bigger tires) so rubbing is definatly a possibility.

Ciper what is the condition of your suspension? That makes a huge diff. The only time my RE-92's have rubbed is when I had... oh two 200lb+ guys in the back. And they only rubbed in the corner of the biggest guy when i was going pretty good into a corner. Worn out springs make it worse.

The condition of my suspension? I almost take offense to that!

Right now I have STI top mounts with AGX struts and Whiteline springs (the non tapered style). 22mm front and rear sway bars with hardened bushings, HD mounts in the rear and HD end links. Although it doesnt matter I also have front and rear strut bars (Cusco and whiteline) and the motorsports ALK

Previously I had Gr2 with whiteline springs in the front and stock springs in the back with standard top hats and the same sway bars.

The rubbing doesnt occur becuase of weight, its because of sprited driving. In the rear the tires rubbed ON THE STRUTS, enough to remove a considerable amount of paint on the lower portion of the spring perch.

On the front I was able to make it rub in multiple places. Most noticably on the front most frame rails, during hard cornering at low speeds.

I have since went to a lower profile tire (205 50) with significantly stiffer sidewalls, I dont think it has rubbed very often but Ill check it out.
