I almost thought it was fake, read the article here http://forums.clubsi.com/showflat.php?C ... o=&fpart=1

Seems like a perfect candidate for the Darwin award

I still almost can't believe those are pistons he is holding in his hand...

Oh well, at least ALL he needed was a new engine.

It would probably be a good idea to learn to drive a standard before you go out and buy one...

I think new STI owners will have the same problem, already I have heard of people choosing the wrong gear.

Hold on... if you are going 130mph and try to shift into 2nd, shoudln't it take the synchros about 4 or 5 seconds to catch that gear up???

If that guy still came off the clutch after noticing that it took a very long time to engage that gear, then he needs an auto!!!

Honda synchros are really good. With sky-high redlines they need to be able to handle wide differences in engine speed, and also Honda's just really good at designing transmissions.

Subaru's synchros are actually some of the worst I've ever dealt with. Most used Subarus I've test driven have at least a worn out 2nd gear synchro. It probably also has something to do with Subarus needing GL5 gear oil which isn't as synchro-friendly as GL4.
