I removed my down pipe and exhaust today. I will be fabing a 3" down pipe out of stainless mandrel exhaust bends. All of the bolts and nuts came off with ease. I can't believe not one bolt broke. I thought the area behind the turbo would be tight, but I found more than enough room for the 3" down pipe.
I could not believe how tight the turbo was, no play in the shaft at all!! I will be making my exhaust also. I have every thing ready to go. 3" stainless mandrel exhaust bends and a 3" Dyno Max Ultra Flow muffler.
A good friend gave me a Saab 900 intercooler. I will install it after the exhoust project. Anyone have pics. of a Saab I/C project?
Does anyone use a knock gauge? I was wondering how to know when knock is present. I use a Scan Master with the turbo Buicks and it will show degrees of knock retard.
Sorry for the long post, but I had a good day in the shop. Most of the time things don't go so well.
A good day in my shop working on my turbo Legacy!
