I think my cat may have gone up this morning.

Post by boostjunkie »

I've been having some really strange issues with boost this past month. Fluctuating boost in consecutive runs (anywhere from 10-13psi!!). The problem went away for a couple of days but this morning I go WOT and only get 4psi!! Pulled into my garage and hear something in the cat clanging around.

I think I might have to take it off and check this weekend. If it is clogged, looks like I'm gonna have to take out the ol' breaker bar and gut it.

Any thoughts?

One way to check would be to disconnect the cat and run the car with just the downpipe. If it runs consistently well (but loud) that way, then you can investigate the rest of the exhaust.

I'm going to try to take off the exhaust this weekend (if it's not raining/snowing). I started up the car again about 10 minutes ago and there's a definite clanking in the cat. I'm guessing one of the bricks broke off and is rolling around in the casing.

Thank goodness we don't have pre-turbo cats, eh?

You said it!!

If it is the cat that's giving me problems, I'm wondering how much louder it's going to be without it?
