Look what i got from work today (Fog L!ght k!t)

Post by HomeSlice »

a lil early christmas present. i was talkin to the service manager about the fogs on the bc bf and he is like you know what. i was cleaning out my garage and i found the kit in my old camero awhile back. he brought it up to work and gave it to one tech. this was before i got the job at. so he told me to ask the tech. so i asked tech A if he was gunna use the wiring and he said no so he hit me off with the whole kit minus the fogs which i dont need cause i got the jdm projector spoties. i was delited. i just got this wiring harness from vrg but i didnt have what went to the fogs. im going to use one harness for my front fogs and one for my rear fogs. if anybody needs a bezel or a fog light switch let me know. the part number is in the pics. says it may be disco'd. i cant belive i got my hands on the kit! yipeeee............. happy holidays.
cheers,
Jim

nice, were they fogs for the pre-facelift or post-facelift? If it was pre, think he'd sell em, with mounting brackets and all that stuff too?

Wow! What a find!

THAWA - I believe this kit was meant for the pre-facelift models. The lights are rectangular and mount on either side of the license plate holder. You could just as easily use any quality aftermarket lamps.

I don't know how good they were... It's quite possible they were just the cheapest junk SOA could find. They definitely were SOA-only; the markings on the back of the lamp housings actually said "SOA." My guess is they picked a US-made aftermarket lamp that seemed to fit nicely, much like how Subaru sells Interstate batteries, NGK and Champion spark plugs, Purolator oil filters, et cetera under Subaru part numbers.

Why would you prefer stock ones? They don't really fit there any better than appropriately-sized aftermarket ones would.

I'd like to keep it as close to factory parts as possible, though I think I might just go get some ones that hide away better.

it being sooby

So those are the rectanglular fog lights for the JDM 89-90 models?? That's cool. How did you find them Homeslice? One thing though, will they fit in your bumper?? I don't even think they'd fit in the 91 bumper's over here. I thought they'd be too large since the openings for those foglights were obviouly larger than our turn signals in our bumpers.

Homeslice can correct me if I'm wrong, but I've seen a few 1990 Legacies with the fog light kit, and they're not the JDM lights; like I said above, I think they're just aftermarket parts that Subaru bought.

They don't fit in the bumper. They bolt to the underside of the bumper on either side of the license plate, inboard of the turn signals.

Hate to bring a post back from the dead but I just found a set of these at the junkyard.
Do you happened to have the install instructions? If so can you get a better pic or scan them? Thanks!
