What would be the maximum amount of boost possible (keeping in the eficient range) for this turbo on a 2.2 liter?

So this turbo would fit with zero modification to intake piping? (meaning its pointed the right way)?

The compressor outlet is nearly parallel with the ground. That means it'll fit 93-96 WRX air/aur intercooler piping or BC/BF air/water intercooler piping, but not USDM stock piping.

Cool. Ill bid on it.

I can use it while getting my car ready for stand alone management, then sell it back to the board members!
What do you guys think is a fair price for it?

I have no idea, but it is very similar to the small 16G for DSMs. The compressor maps for the small 16G can be found in a google search.

I think 18psi is about the point of efficiency of the WRX TD05-16G.

It definately has the better 070 exhaust housing.

Which sucks b/c if Fredy wrx win it, you know he's gonna modify the turbo inlet, making it useless for any of us.

On a somewhat related note, does anyone know how easy it would be to swap an 18G compressor into the subaru TD05 housing? I know that the 18G is the largest compressor that can fit into the Mitsu TD05 housing.

Most guys I know that hybrid their td05's go for a td06 20g upgrade, which means you have to twist the turbo or raise the intake manifold so you can make a straight intake like the late model engines.

Um, can you help me out here? Maybe I am a little dense, but how does telling us the displacement of an EJ20 tell us the compressor efficiency of an TDO5? :?:

Matt Monson, as for the efficiency being for a 2.0L, the rate at which a turbo operates is dependent on both displacement and pressure. Imagine if you will, two containers, one 2L and one 2.2L. The 2.2L obviously has more capacity. If you were to take two water pumps of the same size and try to fill up the containers completely in the same amount of time, the pump filling the 2.2L would be working "harder". The same holds true for a turbo, which tries to maintain the same pressure for both engines.

The turbo might be efficient on a 2L at 18psi, but 18psi on a 2.2L will be out of the effective efficiency of the same turbo, because it will be working harder to pressurize the larger engine at the same psi.

That's why whenever you ask someone what the efficiency of a turbo is, they'll usually tell you for a certain size engine.

So just for a guess, I bet 16.5 is the good range for this turbo on a 2.2 . Plus its a better design so it should spool faster than stock.

Thank you. I was aware of the tech behind it and thus why I was more interested in the maps since I do know how to do this math myself. Knowing where the TD05 maxes out for an EJ20 does very little to help me verify the efficency for the EJ22.

I just couldn't figure out why MY92 felt the need to be so unhelpful with his responses. :?: unless of course he didn't know the answer for use with an EJ22 and didn't have access to the maps himself. *shrugging shoulders* Doesn't matter , other members gave me what i was looking for and it looks like Ciper may have beat me to the math. :D
