I miss my BC

Post by totech »

So, I Fubarded my 91 badly by driving over something I should have not.

So, I am forced to drive my 2003 Legacy.

Man, I miss the character that the SS has, the little quirks and nice things that are there, and how the new car has been de-contented over the years.

I think it comes down to the fact that it is built in the US - nothing against the people here, but I think that the Japanese built Sube's are better.

Case in point - I had a 2000 Legacy - that model was static until 03, when it got the facelift. In Japan, the car had a new "rev" every year - lights, suspension changes, cosmetic exterior etc...

Perhaps Subaru may have to keep this plant as up to date as the main one - to ensure a quality product.

As well as the defects my car came with new.... Both of them 00 and 03 have required frequent trips to fix factory defects.

How do the other cars fare? Do the Japanese Foresters and Imprezas come over here and are problem free?

I am thinking of jumping ship, and getting a forester next, instead of the new legacy for quality reasons..

But the BC will always stay, I am going to re-build it

Ramble off - sorry for the length

I don't know for sure but my old 98 Forester S was pretty nice except for the severe binding and lack of power it had.

My friend had to lemon law his 2002 WRX because it had so many problems. It seriously spent the better part of 2 years in the shop and he broke it in right and didn't even drive it that hard. It had more problems then any car I had ever heard of before. He got all his money back and went and bought an Evo 8 which he loves and is pretty damn nice (I'd rather have a WRX/STI though personally  ).

My mom has a 01 forester w/ 50K and it has been problem free except the rear wheel bearing which is very very common. and i wish because it was jap made it would have a more reliable 2.5, but chances are the headgaskets are gonna go someday
