Can you check tire pressure with unmounted tires?

I know this seems kinda silly, but I'm just wondering if this is one of those things that needs the full weeight of the car to be accurate.

Should be able to. You're measuring the outward force of the tire's walls. . . not the force being exerted on them.

As far as I know, it shouldn't make a difference. (Just tire temperature)

You can certainly check the pressure w/o having the wheels/tires mounted on the car. It's a good idea to do this on your spare once in a while too.

tire pressure will be slightly different with the car's weight on them....maybe 1 psi or something......

That's it? Wow, good to know. I never used to trust measuring them off the car but I guess I will try it from now on.
