TD05H Wastegate Q's

Post by LegacyT »

Well, today I got my TD05H 16G off a 95 STi in the mail. It came without the wastegate. Is the wastegate specific to this turbo? Can I use an RHB5 wastegate or is that a no no? Could I get a dsm talon/eclipse TD05 Wastegate? Is the wastegate specific to the compressor? For example talons had 14G compressors, could I use the wastegate off that? Or must it be a TD05 16G wastegate?

Thanks,

The plumbing for an external wastegate might counter the benefits of having a turbo with the same housings as stock.

this is from rslibertycub.org

"Any engine running a TD05, or late model VF series turbo has a 9psi wastegate, where the early libertys run VF8/10/12 which is 6psi wastegate"

Mark, I say just try to get any old wastegate actuator you can find and try to make it fit. I'm not qualified to make this guess, but I would guess that another FHI-housing turbo's wastegate would be easier to attach than that from a TD05 in a different housing.

The difference in spring stiffness shouldn't matter too much, since you're going to be using some kind of external boost control anyway, right?

The VF11 and the VF10 should have the same 6 psi wastegate. The only difference between the two is that the VF11 has a bigger compressor fan then the VF10.

They also both came on the Legacy turbo too.

ya ythe legacy turbo came ith 10 and 11 compressors both 6 psi springs. The TD05H wastegate had a 9 psi spring. I think I'll just wait till a TD05 wastegate pops up instead of trying to make a difffernt one work.

The th05 and td04 seems to share the same wastegate actuator.

just go into a good performance shop, or turbo shop (for .. diesel truck and stuff) and ask for a replacement actuator for a mitsubishi td05.

a friend here got one for his td05.
