whine theories

ok i want some theories...
I have had this whine coming from the rear of my car for some time now. It only happens when I'm traveling between 55-75mph. I thought it was either the rear differential, drive shaft, or something bearing related(half shaft?). Just the perfect pitch for some sort of resonant and boy is it annoying!
Then suddenly one day it disappeared. It happened right after I rotated the tires. I was like, all this time, the tires weren't the same size and was causing the noise. But 5 days later the noise came back! Those particular days that it wasn't making any noise was due to the extra 200lbs+ i had in the back.
so any guesses to what i should look at first?
