Hehe, looks like I might have a project to tackle this weekend. At least it's not too involved. Just need to take off the valve cover to expose the bolts (and it's actually on TOP of the engine!!).

It's still under a certified toyota warrantee, but there have been complaints from people on the celica boards that the dealership, if they check the car and the bolts seem fine, that:

1. they won't replace them (and they'll eventually fail), and

2. the dealer will charge you anyway for the check. About $100+.

The recommendation by board members is to take the valve cover off, then the bolts, and check them for signs of wear (pretty easy - only 14 bolts and a couple vaccum lines to take off). If they're worn, then replace with $.70 bolts updates. From what I've heard, the dealer won't cover under warrantee unless the car's under 60,000 miles, and my car's at 60,780.

I might bitch at them anyway considering the car's only about a week old (to me).

Ahh, yeah, most things that are dealer related are more trouble than they're worth. Be sure to take pics and post them, even though it's not a subaru :)

Don't worry, I'll probably be eliciting your guys' help with this project. For some reason I get flashbacks of "subaru headgasket" issues when I read that TSB.

There's always some kinda loophole for these dealerships and their warrantees.

Heh... Well, removing the valve cover should be one thing that's easier on the Celica than on a Subaru.

Ooh, and you get to use form-in-place-gasket!

I read through most of that TSB... Wow thats a lot of work for 2 bolts!

When do we get to see the car? :)

Actually, those instructions are a little more involved than need be. The valve cover comes off without the removal of the timing belt and drive belt. I only need to do that if *crossing fingers* the bolt actually has broken off. Once I take off the valve cover I have easy access to the bolts in question.

I'm not experiencing any of the symptoms of the broken bolt, but I wanna get this issue resolved ASAP as the old bolts are guaranteed to break.

I have a picture on my phone that I'll post shortly.

LOL! That's the quote I have written under the picture in my phone: Looks Fast.

Believe me, it'll be faster than my turbo legacy in the corners once I'm done with all of the suspension mods I have planned. That part of me isn't even considering power mods considering the OBD2 hassles I'd have to deal with.

And I'll be in touch with all of you whenever I need that "boost" fix:)
