One thing good about owning a "girls' car."
Well, my friend was telling me about how he was talkin to one of his girl friends . . . told her how I bought a new car and she asked what kinda car. When he told her a Celica, she replied, "isn't that a girls' car?" At first, the remark had me thinkin, "damn, that really sucks." But then I thought about it, and driving around, seeing all of the girls driving celicas (I've seen maybe one dude driving one in the three weeks I've had the car) . . . and getting waved at by a couple of the girls . . .
This might be a REALLY GOOD THING! I always wondered whether I'd find someone on a car board that is actually interested in knowing cars and such, and being on that celica board got me thinkin, as a couple of the people posting to my post are girls, that my purchase of this vehicle might be my chance to meet that person on a car board.
Seems like Yukonart called dibs on the only girl that I know on this board, LaureltheQueen. LOL!

A friend of mine had a Del Sol because it's a girl's car and 'chick's like them'. I tried to explain that, yeah, they want one, not a guy who drives one. He found out the hard way. Of course, a Celica's not that girly a car and the girls that drive them are cute. The women that drive Del Sols are old and usually overweight (maybe they think the car's slimming).

The CRX was way better than the Del Sol, although my friend didn't think so. I tried to talk him into a real sportscar or at least something not so gay, but it was no use - he thought the Miata was even girlier, the CRX sucked, and I think he was afraid of the Alfa Spider. I gave up at that point and mostly just refused to be in his car whenever possible.

The Del Slo was the CRX... the first generation(84-87) of the CRX was known as the Civic CRX, in the US as well as everywhere else. The second generation(88-91us, 92 japan) was known as only the CRX in America as the name was then familiar, but the original name held true everywhere else. The third generation was known as the Civic CRX Del Sol in every country but the united states. Honda did market research and found that cars with shorter names sold better, so they marketed it as the Del Sol, much as subaru did with the STi, Impreza, WRX, STi...

LOL! Reminds me of my roommate's s2000. That car is badass when there's a single driver in it, or there's a guy and a girl, or two girls. But when I'm riding along with him, I don't feel so cool for some reason. LOL! Convertible syndrome!evolutionmovement wrote:The CRX was way better than the Del Sol, although my friend didn't think so. I don't know that I would want a girl who is interested in cars. It would be cool, because you'd meet some nice people, but it would be just like competeing or playing the same sports.
I can't ski with women. I can't bike with women. I cant bowl with women (unless there are a bunch of people, then I can just not care how well I do). It's not because I am an overly competitive person, but it's because of inferiority. I don't want to kick the girls ass and then have her think I'm some jackass, and I don't want to get my ass kicked and have her gloat.
Same deal with cars. An interest in them is cool, but when it gets down and dirty, I don't want to hear "you did it wrong, I would have done it this way."
I want a woman who understands cars enough to let me buy stuff without complaint. But not so much that she tries to instruct me on how to change my oil.

Oh come on, Phil. . .it's all good. Just have to make sure the girl you share your enthusiasm for these with is not the gloating or whining type.
Laurel and I share a lot of interests. We both have our strengths and weaknesses in them, but we've got a great chemistry where we compliment each other's abilities and knowledge, rather than compete with them.
I took up snowboarding just this last season. I got pretty damn good, pretty damn fast. Laurel's been boarding for 4+ seasons. While I improved a lot, she's still a better boarder than me, and probably will be for a while. I'm okay with that. I'm just liking the fact that we can hang with each other on the slopes, now. . . and I'm not forcing her to wait every few minutes.
Same holds true for cars. Laurel's got a lot of knowledge, especially on Subbies and Hondas. While I may not know as many things about these two particular makes as she, I do have 16+ years of overall automotive experience that spans many makes and models. What I don't know about Subbies and Hondas, she sometimes does. . . and vice versa with other cars. . . and trucks, too.
Sure we rib each other about things all the time, sometimes even these very subjects. But we never take things very seriously. . . we have too much fun sharing our interests to criticize each other's shortcomings.
Guys, things can go either way when sharing a love of cars with a girl. Trick is to make sure you're a good match overall before trying to nitpick over trivial attributes.

I had the problem Phil mentioned above with a previous boyfriend. He was a retard, and I wouldnt let him talk shit. He'd say he wanted a $5000 adjustable wing(for real) and I'd ask him why, it'd just make his (imaginary, mind you)car look stupid, he said it was for performance, I'd recommend spending that $5000 on worthwile mods instead, he'd get angry and we'd stop talking for a few hours. I think we had about 7 "fights" over that very subject, and they all went the same. It really does take similar viewpoints on subjects, after that, it really shouldnt be a problem...

See, that's why I want a girl that knows enough about cars to where she wouldn't get pissed that I spend 2k on engine management. It would be nice to have a girl who trusts my judgement, ESPICALLY when it comes to MY car.
A guy like Laurel dated, that's exactly the situation I want to avoid (me in her place, and a girl instead of the guy). I like girls with taste in car accessories.

LOL! BAC5.2 doesn't want to get "tied down" by a car enthusiast. LOL!
I don't think it would be a problem. Like Laurel said, you just have to feel them out first. Now that I'm working on suspension components for my car, I'd probably be more inclined to talk to someone who has more background in that sorta thing. Honestly, doesn't matter whether it's someone I'd have a romantic interest in or not, if she knows her sh!t, she knows her sh!t. I'm not about to think I'm all high and mighty in my CLAIMS that I know everything, because I don't. No one does. And if I'm getting constructive criticism and/or support from someone who might know a thing or two about my car, it helps in the long run.

And you shouldn't feel like you should. Dude, you're still young! (I can't believe I just said that)
I'm 27, and am starting to feel like settling down. I've done the single thing for a while now, and it's just lost it's flavor. The point of being young (and single) is figuring out who you are as a person, finding that identity. Once you figure that out, then you can start to hone in on the type of person that will compliment that personality.

Not a chance. I wouldn't risk scratching my baby. Inside only, never on
I showed this one girl a picture of my car and she think's its sexy (she's from Australia, and has actually heard of the Liberty RS).

I have met a car chick I like, she's not being real receptive though. She drives an 01 2.5RS and knows more about it than half the WRX drivers out there
But she's no mechanic, I'm probably gonna change her timing belt for her. She was wondering what type of payment to give me, and I told her I would gladly accept a certain kind
I'm not part of the Six-Star Club though, having never gotten any in a Subaru (kinda like the mile-high club
). I hope to join it soon though
