STi V4 Intercooler

Post by Paisan »

Any idea if this will fit on relatively easy on my '94 Legacy Turbo? I'm picking one up and figured I'd give it a go. I have to keep my AC and all the jaz and hopefully can get this to work relatively easily.

Just curious if anyone has done it before.

I would think it would be a lot like trying to fit on a US-market WRX intercooler; aren't they more or less the same shape?

Why do you need to keep your AC? I didn't know it got THAT hot in NY.

I am only keeping AC out of necessity (it get's impossibly hot in the Metro DC area and traffic is enough to roast you). I'd rather save the few pounds if possible.

At any rate, I hear that you can just swap the main AC line with that from an N/A car to gain the clearance for a WRX intercooler. Not sure though.

Even here in MA it gets hot enough in the summer to need A/C sometimes. We get into the 100's with rediculous humidity.

Yup it's my daily driver/beater car, so I need the AC to work while sitting in traffic into and out of manhattan and for trips etc. I ripped the AC out of my race car, but this one stays nice... :) Thanks for the input, we'll see how it works out. I guess it's the V2 that is a direct drop in dealio?

Phil, remind me not to ride in your car when the weather gets warmer! LOL!

Mike - No intercooler is a direct drop in.But, yeah, an intercooler from any Subaru up through 1996 would fit more easily.

I was gonna use a stock WRX one so I guess that the smaller STI v.4 one will be somewhat easier than the 02-03 WRX one.
