Should I do it?
As some of you know I work for the j-team
. I got an offer for a promotion at work today. It's between me and some other guy. I've pretty much got the position, but the other guy just started so he has to work more. It is for a CSA(customer sales associate) position. I would rarely be in the pit doing shit and basically relaxing. I would instead spend more time upstairs with the customers. I really can't stand talking to customers and like being in the pit more than being upstairs. It's so lax down there. I would be getting a buck extra per hour. So like 150-160 extra a month or 1800-1920 extra a year. I also would be getting some managerial experience, basically opening and closing if they need me to. Which most any place will like. So what do you think, should I try and persue this position and make some more cash but have to deal with customer problems and have to talk to them all day for a dollar more? Or should I continue to work just regular, in the pit most of the time pretty much relaxing not having to worry about anything but drain plugs, oil filters and the occasional gear box or fuel filter for the same pay?

Also if take this position 6 months down the road when raises come I'd only be allowed $.25 ontop of the dollar instead of a straight $.50 for not being a CSA.

I say do it. Not for the raise, and not for the new position. But for the experience and the marks on your resume. Not sure if you're planing on making Jiffy Lube your carreer, but in the future when an employer looks over your resume, raises and promotions always look good no matter what type they are.
Customers arent really that bad. Could be worse, they could be irate like the customers Im forced to talk to.

it's actually good to hear someone say not to do it. So far everyone I've talked to said I should, but it's good that I'm not the only person taht doesnt like customers. I'm still not sure what I'll do ut thanks for the opinion

Hardy, you're young, and you could use the experience.
In a nutshell, that's my recommendation. The more experience you gain now, the more it will help you in subsequent positions there, AND in other jobs. Manegerial experience can open many doors for you. . . and the more doors you have to choose from, the better.
