shipping a car

hey everyone,

im going to be heading south in a couple months and am thinking i dont want to add 1,700miles of wear and tear to my suby, so im wondering how i would go about shipping it. anyone know of any services or where to start?

You should be able to search Google for auto transporters, but they'll likely be expensive. It's about a grand to ship a POS from Cali to MA. Wear and tear shouldn't be bad - I drove mine cross country.

Are you really worried about 1700 miles? Your car's got 128000 miles on it; another 1700 will be just a drop in the bucket, and the car probably won't even notice. Just change the oil before the trip if it'll be due before you get back. That's my take, anyway.

If you do want to ship it, though, I have heard good things about http://www.shipcar.com/ from a friend of a friend.

just wear and tear in general. it has a weak transmission. and last time i made this trip i lost a tranny, and about $1500 plus my truck at the same time :( this time id like to fly down and have my car either waiting or enroute. simple and quick.
