Simply amazed

Post by entirelyturbo »

I don't know if I've ever driven a car that performs as fantastically as my Legacy! :)

Last night, I just ran up to one of my favorite roads that I discovered a few months ago. It's waay out in the boonies, no traffic, no cops, no street lights, my favorite setting. I really put the car through its paces out there, taking corners at over twice their posted speeds and still not even making tire noise. I've hung with WRX's on this road before. Every last part on the car did everything right. It was a perfect drive.

Then tonight, on my way to a car meet, I get in a game of chicken with a C230 Kompressor for the prepaid toll lane. He backed off at 95 coz he saw I had more to go :). Then on the way back, I nudged it up to about 105, car was smooth as glass, completely straight, no shaking. Perfect.

And it's sitting in my driveway right now like nothing ever happened, ready to do the daily grind tomorrow.

I am SOOO never getting rid of Patti

I know how you feel. Every time I get in my 94 to move it, I just can't compare the feel that I think the car has to anything else I've driven (save other Subarus). It feels more solid than lots of cars I've driven have (including the SC300 I test drove, that thing felt like SHIT).

My car gets scarily smoother and more stable after 85 and stays that way to about 110.

Ha, my Brat smoothed out over 80 also. Very weird, a Subaru thing? You'd forget all about patti if you got a car that didn't have "asthma" :D . Then you'll be talking about beating out E55AMG's instead of little kompressors.

My car doesn't even start really sticking to the road until around 70 mph.

Oh and I've had a lot of friends comment about how fast and smooth Subarina is. :D

On mine, it's right when I hit 80-85 that thing'ss just really start to hum -in the good sense, that is. I think it may, in fact, be a Subaru thing.

My 95 felt like it was going to kill you until you got to like 75ish. But it took sooooo long to get there, that it was almost always a harsh ride.

I've only gone about 60 in the 94 so far :(

Unfortunately, no. Ginger starts getting very nervous around 90. Of course, the poor little EA82 is going almost 5k in 5th at that speed

Never! 8) I would only add a Turbo to the lineup, not replace Patti with it :D

Strange, my EA81 equipped cars would pull near redline in top ('P' on the speedometer or about 105-110) all day and 85 was their happy cruising speed.

Same here. I always ran 185/80R13 tires, though so the gearing got elongated some. So I was closer to 90-95 (without realizing the speedo was now uncalibrated with the much taller tires  ) I had a 73 hp vehicle that did over 100! How many people can say that... well it did only weigh 2200 lbs.

I can. I ran 185/70's. Drove for hours to Detroit several times with the speedometer reading 'P'.
