Vechicular Suggestions

Post by LaureltheQueen »

A friend of mine recently flipped his 92 mustang. He's now looking for a new car, that's gonna be HARD to flip. He was looking at my L wagon, but decided that he wanted something that didnt need as much work. He's looking to spend probably no more than $3000, and wants decent handling(doesnt have to be great) and his mom wont let him get a car that's considered a "sports car". He's looking at a 92 Integra right now, but I think he'd get buttraped by insurance with his recent accident, and buying a honda(high theft rate) Any suggestions?

had the speedo buried on a back road, saw something on the road, swerved(yes, stupid), did a 360, clipped the corner of the bumper on a telphone pole, and rolled it 2.5 times

Ouch!

I don't know, there's so many options. If he doesn't want Ruby what about a different Subaru? Or how about a MX6 turbo? Or a Celica? Maybe a Volvo turbo? His mom would probably like the safety reputation of Volvo. Is he actually looking for performance though or just a nice car? I'd say a VW but you'd probably drive all the way to PA just to smack me up side the head!

Your friend needs to learn to drive better -- no offense. The Mustang is actually a pretty flip-resistant car. Any car can flip if you hit something at high speed. Most commonly it's a curb that does it though.

Subarus are good because they have low centers of gravity due to their drivetrain, though. :)

Yeah, anything will flip with enough stupidity/bad luck. The only better bets would be maybe a Camaro or SVX but they're both 'sports cars' I assume (although I'd say pony car and grand tourer).

I second this. Yeah they're boxy and heavy, but they can take a serious hit and they're indestructible. Boost up that turbo, and it won't be quite so boring and stodgy anymore ;)

he doenst really care about getting a sporty car, he just wants something to tool around in. Anything with a turbo in the name would scare his mom, she's very conservative... i'll give him those suggestions. :)

Just like the Facelifted BC/BF.

Vikash - My buddy was driving along in his old Jimmy (lifted a bit 33's, the usual). Just driving on the highway. Something in the road punctured his tire, and the tire collapsed under the wheel (blowout). Truck rolled twice and flipped three times. All happened right in front of a state trooper (who was behind my friend). Walked away unharmed, but he said it was the scariest thing ever. Just randomly started rolling he said.

Phil - Wow. He's lucky!

A lifted Jimmy's certainly not a car, though.

Haha, true, but I was just saying that it's not ALWAYS the drivers fault. In this case (with the buttstang), it was entirely driver error, lol.
