Not a fan of Panasonic. I checked them out, but for the money, I didn't see anything special about them.
I've had a lot of luck with longetivity of panasonic products though. I don't have any experience with Eclipse, but I've heard lots of good things.
Can't go wrong either way I suppose.
(This should be in Body, Chassis, Interior)

I swear by Panasonic head units. The one in my brat wouldn't skip when I would get airborne
. I then got a ghost face for the Panasonic and it was a steal at the price and amount of controls it has (like I can control subwoofers and their cut-off frequency and stuff, pre-amp outs, etc.). I still have the original one I bought in my wagon now and it still plays like a champ (it has been in been in vehicles that travel off-road all its life).
And recently my friend was getting a head unit and we found a good deal on a cheap cheap bottom of the line Panasonic cd player. I was a little leary about getting cheap stuff, until we got it hooked up and turned it on. Wow... I checked the specs and they use the same MOFSET amp in all their head units... the only thing that changes is the number of functions the player has. The audio store I originally bought my first head unit from swore by them... I wasn't completely convinced at the time (I tend to ignore hype until I know it's for real), but now Panasonic is the only thing I would buy.

I've had a Panasonic HU for about three years now and it kicks the ass of similarly priced HU. The features that Brat mentioned are really nice and you usually have to pay $100 more for those same features in other brands. If you're going to do a sub then you should make sure you've got 3 pre-amp RCA outs on whatever HU you decide on. It makes it much easier to control the sub as you can control volume, frequency, etc. all from the HU.

Don't get Sony speakers. That's the worst ICE decision you could make. Sony has no place in car audio.
My spoiler was my rattle point in my 95. That and my entire trunk lid would thump out. The pains of having a bigass sub.
I guess I'm the only one who doesn't like Panasonic gear. Their $497 headunit had like 1/2 the features, and no spec's exceeding the unit I got. And it was only blue/white, where mine is full on Organic EL color display.

I'm just getting started on the audio scene again. I used to be into it when I was a sophmore in high school, but I lost interest.
I've never had good experiences with Sony though, so I don't recomend them to anyone.
I'll probably end up with either Diamond, Boston, or Alpine speakers though.
