'91 Turbo suspension...Strut top/spring/strut compatible?

Post by advansti »

I have a few questions concerning my '91 Legacy Turbo Sedan. As everyone knows this is the one year where Subaru used the cone shaped rear spring configuration. What I'm looking to do is use GC8 rear strut tops to allow the use of the constant radius springs of later years. Here is where I have some questions that more pertain to just the strut top, coil spring, and strut relation.

-Can I use '02 WRX springs with GC8 struts and strut tops?

-Use of '02 WRX springs/WRX struts/GC8 tops

-OR simply use all GC8 hardware.

Reasoning behind using the WRX hardware is for better balance. The Legacy has approximately the same weight distribution and weight as the '02 WRX. This and the fact that there are more options for the WRX allowing less of an overall drop in ride height.

Thank you,

-Matt

Just for argumentive purposes, all the bc style(legacy, impreza, forrester) rear springs are tapered. It's just that 90-91 legacy springs are tapered more than the new style.

Thank you for the fine details. I'm sure that everyone knows what I mean. The tapering is there, I just wanted to get the main idea across.

Where did you hear that the BC has a similar weight distribution to the WRX? I thought the Legacy was a little less nose-heavy.
