What a weekend...

Post by BAC5.2 »

Just got home from the SEMA show.

Talk about a blast.

HOT women (no joke, some of the girls were INSANE)
Hot cars (not as hot as the women)
Free shit

and best of all, the BFGoodrich challenge.

I got to drive an STi with Yokohama AVS Sport's on it, then compare it to an STi with BFG G-Force T/A KDW's on it. Surprisingly, I noticed a difference. All of the people in front of me were hitting the brakes a good bit. I think I hit them once going into turn 1. Laid into it in 2nd gear around the final set of turns (turn 2 was a hard right, straight, then a soft right. Pedal was burried from the apex of turn 1 to just before entering turn 4.) Sure enough, the Yokohama car pitched sideways enough to require a bit of countersteering, and let the fronts bark around the apex of turn 2. The BFG car pulled neutrally through the turn, wagging the tail just barely right before the entrance to turn 4. I attribute the tail wagging to my getting off the throttle through the transition between the corners. I wish the lap was longer. It was maybe 45 seconds from launch to stop. I had both instructors grabbing for the oh-shit handle.

STi's are fun :)

At the show, there was a Ford Focus rally game (a full fledged Focus and you looked out the winshield at the screen). I did pretty damn good in that game, pulling a 3:20 lap.

I have a big ass poster of a WRX from the BFG booth, and another BFG poster of a Celica. I got a bunch of NITTO CK1 air fresheners, and I have a TON of stickers. I just started grabbing handfuls of stickers towards the end because I was tired and they weren't stacked well. I think I have like 8 Falken stickers.

Talked to the guys from Cusco about parts for the BC6, and said talked a bit to the Japanese rep about the BC5.

Talked to the guys at the Turbosmart booth about the Turbo Legacy, he said he was looking for a touring wagon.

Talked to the Exedy guys about WRX clutches, they were dicks.

Got an APC keychain, which I never plan on using.

I hit on most of the models, which was cool. Several made comments about my shirt saying "aw, that's cute" to which I would reply, "Thanks, you too." Yea, I'm a fucking pimp.

We stayed in my buddies camper, if you've ever been to Atlantic City, you know just how busy hotels can get. A few camp sites down from us, some girl was having her 20th birthday, so we hung out with them for a good bit. I ended up making out with one of the girls, which was cool because she was hot.

That pretty much sums it up. I've got pictures that I will post up soon enough.

You should have man! I spent like $30 total this whole weekend including food.

You'll notice the girl in the second picture is that hot girl that was posing on the hood of the porsche that I gave the shocker in.

On the way up to Atlantic City, we were following a Porsche Carrera and an old SAAB Turbo, cruising at like 90 for most of the way up 95. On the way home today, we were following a brand new Ferrari 575M going about the same speed.

We made good time :)

There was a back road on the way to the campsite that was just begging for WOT max speed runs. We only got one pass on, and it wasn't near top speed.

I had an awesome weekend too. Yesterday, right after work, I test drove a Toyota I thought they'd never come out with: a brand-new 2005 Corolla XRS with the 170-hp 1.8 out of the GT-S and the 6-speed. I'm a sucker for a sedan with a performance engine, so I had to drive it. Peaky, yes, but it's really fun to wind that engine out. boostjunkie is having fun, trust me :)

Saturday night was crazy. Honestly guys, you don't understand how many fine girls there are here in Central FL. I went to a club called Mako's right in downtown Orlando, and it's downright awesome. I didn't drink one single thing and had a blast, because so many sluts were degrading themselves dancing on stage. I was in heaven :D Didn't get any numbers though

Today, I had a reunion of my senior class of sorts at my place. Going to a private school means that the class was REALLY small, to the tune of EIGHT small . All guys too :(. But yeah everyone is going to college here locally, so I got in contact with as many as I could, and 6 of us were at my place havin a barbeque. It was good to see everyone again, and future meetings are already in the works.

So I'm actually ready to go through the next week, since this weekend was such a blast.

Cooool.

I wonder how much of the difference in the car's handling could be due to tire pressures as opposed to the tires themselves.

Yea, that's what I was curious about as well.

That, and the BFG shed car seemed to be a bit more tweaked. Nothing major, but the car was just flatter through the turns it seemed, with less understeer.

My noticing the tires was just a secondary effect, I was more stoked that I got to bash an STi for 2 laps.
