Maybe covered a ton of times....Is it worth relocating the O2 to pre turbo or leave it post turbo?
Welding a bung in the exhaust is no problem.
Relocating O2?

if you really want it pre turbo just grab a wrx uppipe and use that bung and seal up yours. I dunno but I think there's some reason it's post turbo.

I think it just lasts longer post-turbo because there's less heat.
WRXes have them in the passenger side exhaust manifold; the WRX up-pipe has a crude EGT probe in it.
I don't think you'll see any advantages if you move it... in theory it'll respond a little faster and heat up a little faster, but neither of those are really problems with the stock setup.
