Hood Insulation
How many of you have removed the fiberglass insulation from under your hood?
Any benefits/problems?
I'm just curious if it will touch the intercooler when I have it installed.

Mine fell apart so I had to remove it, but I'm saving up for a replacement.
I definitely notice the engine loses its heat much faster when parked, especially when the weather is cold. This means my engine spends more time cold, which hurts efficiency, emissions, longevity, and fun.
There's actually a fairly important safety-related purpose to the hood blanket, though; in the event of an engine fire it's supposed to smother the flames and put the fire out.
If it touches the intercooler I'd strongly suggest carefully trying to trim it rather than removing it.

My L didn't have it, but my SS does.......
I'm planning on trimming it so it doesn't disintegrate once I open up the airflow over the intercooler.

My L did not have it, nor did the 90 L i had. I know the 90 LS that i was going to buy did have it.
I don't plan on adding it though.

My car has it. I had to trim it at the back to clear the cheap strut bar I put in. It's definitely a flame suppressor as it's a fiberglass-like thing.

Midnight in a Perfect World on Amazon or order anywhere. The first book in a quartet chronicling the rise of a man from angry criminal to philanthropist. Midnight... is a distopic noirish novel featuring 'Duchess', a modified 1990 Subaru Legacy wagon.
My L had it.....however when I put a new t-legacy hood on......I didn't bother swapping it....I would've needed to trim it as well.

My 91 L had one.
Those of you who don't have them -- you bought your cars used, right? I'd bet they came from the factory with the blankets but they got lost somewhere along the way to you.

The STi doesn't have a hoodliner?
The hoodliner does a few things. Insulation, Sound insulation, fire supression. The plastic tabs melt and drop the blanket.
My 95L didn't have one, my 94 SS does.
