Pictures of GC8 Sideskirts on BF

Post by nubs »

Finally had some time to install one side of the RS 2.5 Sideskirts I bought last year. I also blacked out the chrome strip on the sidebody mouldings.

What do you guys think. Do they look OK?

Wow, that actually looks really good.

Are you thinking of paiting the skirts to match the body?

They look good to me, which way did you use to black out the chrome?

Thanks for the positive comments. I think they look good.
Not sure if I am going to paint them or not. If I do it won't be till I get some of the rust issues fixed up, then I plan on painting the rest of the car too.

I used automotive grade tape to black out the chrome. I wanted to see how it looked before committing, and tape is easier to remove. If the tape stays on I will probably just leave it on and not paint it.
The side skirts are about 1.5 to 2 inches to short. The had to be trimmed to fit up against the splash guard. The spa sh guard also had to be trimmed underneath to accommodate the mounting point.I trimmed a little to much off but it does not look to bad unless you look real close.

I think it looks really good. If possible, you should take more pics of the skirts when the car is in direct sunlight as it's a little washed out in the shadows. Glad to hear the install went OK.

Where'd you pick up the automotive grade black tape? I've tried Schucks and Autozone and either they didnt carry anything up that alley or the employees were incompetant.

Here is another picture, a little better.

You should be able to find the tape at a body shop supply store. You might have to have them order it. Mine is 3m brand I think. I had a 2inch wide roll that I bought years ago for another project.

Pics not working, you need to put a / in the second img. [/img]

That looks good. Do you plan to paint them the body color? They'd look really hot then.

So in theory, Aftermarket RS sideskits should fit with little trouble also right?

Hmm, if you can use GC8 sideskirts, you should be able to use GDA ones too, since as far as I know, they're interchangable. Just a thought.

They are stock Impreza side skirts, but you might want to look for a set of used ones.I don't remember exactly how much the dealer wanted for them. But the were pretty spendy.

sorry to bring this thread back from the dead. Doing this in the future has become a very real possibility, but I'm also going to be looking for the rear lip from a GT wagon to go with them...

I just want to be certain that they'll FIT. He said that they were about 1.5-2" too short, how did he get them to fit then.
