I saw a new commercial for the Forester XT today and it said it had 210 hp. Is this right? I thought they had 250/250 like the new GT.

210 is claimed. They put about 180 to the ground (30 more WHP than a WRX), so figure they've got more like 260ish.

Made me remember this dyno chart of a forester with a vf22: http://www.subaruforester.com/files/dyno.jpg

Unimpressive. Those numbers can be had with the stock TD05. Now if those numbers were at the wheels, THAT would be impressive.

It's not meant to be impressive. The point was the hp/tq curve. That has to punch fairly hard.

and those are at the wheels

nm, apparently that was an error on the dyno's part (the curves). But i imagine it's still a beast to drive.

that would suck to drive that car.

From the thread it the pic came from it's not bad at all, the dyno wasn't reading that there was a car on it untill ~3k. Here's the thread: http://www.subaruforester.com/viewtopic.php?t=4306

The Dyno pic says "Torque Flywheel" and "Power Corrected" which would lead me to believe that it was measured at the crank (converted from WHP to BHP).

The thread, though, says it's at the wheels. Hmmm...

there is no way to accurately measure crank power or torque unless the engine is out of the car and on an engine dyno. the guy running the dyno obviously didn't know what he was doing.

from what I have seen the xt 's hp is underated (when compared to a stock wrx and asuming that the ej20 in the wrx is not overated) crank hp should be around 235 and torque around 245.
but the rurbo is a td04 as far as I know.,
put in a catless uppipe an the xt pulls pretty hard down low.

the XT is really a detuned Sti motor (2.5 liter), that's why the motor is such a torque monster which is what you need in a forester (i have a '98)... peak HP is far less important than the area under the torque/power curves which gives you pull all through the rev range
