...turbo and non-turbo? Are there better quality sets?

I think the turbo just has a few extra gaskets for the exhaust as I got it to rebuild mine. I don't recall seeing anything that wouldn't also work on N/A.

The OEM turbo and non-turbo head gaskets have different part numbers... I don't know if third-party gaskets are different or not though.

NO!

The head gaskets for the closed deck (Turbo) are completely different than the NA. There are serious flow issues because of this.

However, this does not mean that you cant make them work. I used a VERY sharp circle punch and a maple block and opened up the areas that need to be enlarged.

Was this a good idea? Under normal NA applications, I think it would be fine. Under the 7 psi I intend on running, I will find out if it was a good idea to use them! I purchased the gasket set on EBAY for $99 so I was kind of stuck with them.

these guys are CHEAP!

pistons are $117
rings are $46
Gasket set $107 ish

this is all NA though.

However, I am sure they are still going to be cheaper than Schucks.

$35 each for turbo head gaskets.

You can get them at Napa for about the same price, but make sure they order the right ones. We ordered a set and they were the NA ones. But even though they were in a generic package, they were in fact genuine Subaru gaskets...
