My car needs some new shocks bad I compete in rally crosses alot and it bottoms out cause its basically all spring now... I don't want to just replace them with stock ones I want because I plan to race this thing sometime in the future. I know nothing squat about shocks I know I like bilsteins because I have them on one of my volvos and that thing handles amazingly. Where would I go to look for shocks in the 500 or less $ range? Or is that to cheap? I will install them myself.

where are you?
for rally cross the kyb gr-2 will work just fine and they have a lifetime warranty. i have them on mine. and my brother used them on his impreza. they are around 250 from
http://www.discounttiredirect.com/direct/home.jsp i will dig out my bill from them and give you the name of the guy i talked to if you want. he was very helpfull. i am very happy with their performance.
the agx would be good to. they are 4 way adjustable in front and 8 way in the rear. however the set on my wagon has not been changed in 5 years. they are around 400.
i would reccomend the gr-2 and a custom wound set of oem style springs in the same (maybe a 1/2-1 inch higher) height but a slightly higher rate. talk to doug davenport at
http://davenportracingusa.com/ about getting some custom springs. this combo would be right around your 500 mark.
mike wray uses the agx w/ground control coilovers on his turbo rally car and it seems to be working really well for rallyx and good enough for our "smooth" rallies here in minnesota.
plus stock pieces are around 110 a piece from the dealer so stay away from them.
mike is going to be running at OFPR this weekend so i will ask them how they are working in a harsher environment.

this is a very good retailer. 449. they say for imp. but IIRC they work on our cars too. i have them on my wagon.
and i believe we discovered that the 92-94 gr-2 is the same as the 90-91 gr-2 but the "newer" one is 100 cheaper. and the imp ones for 249 should work too.
if im wrong on parts mix and match someone please correct me.
ACP put GD chassis stuff on his car i believe and its a 90.
you can also look here:

mike shields was who i bought my agx's from for 440 w/shipping 5 years ago. and his prices seem to not have changed much. he trashes the legacy abit on his site but he is a little more helpfull on the phone.

Wow I sounded retarded when I made this post haha. Anyway ya those GR2's sound good but i sure wish they could be adjusted like the AGX's. I'll come back to this topic when i get my paycheck next week

And to the person who is going to ask the guy with the rally legacy about how his stuff is holding up... Yes please ask him, but I will also be going to WCSS6 on friday-sunday and will probably be able to ask a bunch of people there.

on my wagon the agx has not changed settings since i got them. the changes went from good handling to annoying real fast. the gr-2 is a nice compromise and i dont think the adjustability is worth the nearly double in price.

just talked to mike about his AGX/Ground Control setup. says its holodng up good so far but that is only w/two events. but there was some rough stuff at OFPR this past weekend.
unfortunately he rolled on sat. just cosmetic damage and they are both ok.
