Where to host a website

Post by Grant »

Need to host a website fairly inexpensively. Any recommendations?
I need my own name, bannerless hosting, email, at least 50+ MB space. Thanks ahead of time to anyone who responds.

PS> I'll be more than happy to host any pictures on it when I do get it up and running.

Is this for a business or just for your own use?

For my own personal use (and for some of my friends) I set up a computer connected to my cable modem and got a free hostname from WhyI ( http://www.whyi.org/ ). It's a web server, email server, and UNIX shell server basically. The computer also acts as the router/firewall/wireless access point for my apartment.

Okay so I just bought hugheshometheater.com for my business I am starting in a few years. I used ICDSoft.com. They had a good user rating and for 5/mo. I get 333 MB of space and 5 GB of transfer and unlimited email accounts. So if anyone needs any pictures hosted in the future feel free to email them to me.

Catalog.com is where I have my site hosted. It's a free hosting plan, you just have to register/re-register your domaing through them. IIRC, it's ~$30/year. I forget what the throughput is and the space you get.
