1st: 3.545
2nd: 1.947
3rd: 1.366
4th: 0.972
5th: 0.738
Reverse: 3.416
They don't have the weird split thing that the WRXes have; the center differential's outputs are both at the same ratio (so you could say the center diff is 1:1) and both the front and rear differentials have a final drive ratio of 3.900..

so if i found a turbo legacy tranny, i would just have to swap trannys, pedals and all other associated parts, but i could still use my awd auto 3.9 rear end?

hey jake- does this mean you're gonna have an extra AT hanging around? What's the condition of it? I may be in need of one here, soon.. although its an NA tran, right? Mine might be on the way out, but i'm not sure..

yes i will have an extra auto hanging around.. but its from my turbo. i'm (hopefully) swapping it out because the auto is leakin tranny and gear oil

so instead of fixing it i'm just going to swap to a 5spd a little earlier than planned.

ohh.. can it be fixed? cheap? I'd love a turbo tranny, as it would probably stand up a little better to what i dish out..
PM me or something.

Hey guys I'm planning on the same swap in a '91 turbo. Keep me posted on any info and if you have a comprehensive list of parts needed that would be great.

I'm confused on the differences between the SS ratios vs WRX ratios.
This is what vrg3 said the SS ratios were earlier in this thread.
1st: 3.545
2nd: 1.947
3rd: 1.366
4th: 0.972
5th: 0.738
Reverse: 3.416
According to the FAQ on NABISCO, WRX ratios are are the same, except 1st gear is 3.454. Is this true, or is there a misprint somewhere? The reason I ask is I was under the impression all the ratios were totally different. What gives?

The WRX FSM states that's what it is.....whether that's correct....I don't know.
Also...it states the WRX reverse gearing is 3.333
There's quite a few ratios that are the same. But...as you may have found....subaru likes playing with things, and tweaking it here or there, so there's no real "standard" to anything.
