EJ22_SLO: Welcome! You definitely will learn, not some things from this Board, but you'll learn a LOT!

Wow! I never thought I'd communicate with someone from Slovenia! It's kind of nice to see the buildings and streets, in addition to your Suby.

What's the price of gas there? What's the time difference?

Hey, just thought of something: Are you able to get us glass, left-hand drive headlamps to fit our cars in the US? Any idea on price and availability? Can you let us know, please?

Welcome, again!

umm... that's kinda scary, there, Hardy.. Do you really have us all on a US/World Map with little yellow pins and such? Or are they multi-colored? Can my pin be blue? Or how about Jungle Green? Or do you use flags with zip codes?

Oh, what a great idea. Hit the scrap yards, man! Collect as many sets of glass headlights and ship 'em over! You'd be able to create a little income stream for yourself. Put me on the list for a set.

Gasoline prices in Slovenia: 95 octane - 1,11 USD/liter, 98 octane 1,13 USD/liter, diezel 1,10 USD/liter; like everywhere else, gasoline prices are rising...
timezone: GMT + 1 8) - i think that is 7 hours before US central time...

About Slovenia (and NO, it is not SlovaKia - that's almost 1k miles away :mrgreen: ) : what CIA know about Slovenia, & Lonely Planet In short - i live 2 hours away from Venice, 2 hours away from Vienna, i have 1/2 hour ride to ski resorts, 1 hour to mediteranian sea... kinnda little heaven.

About thoose headlamps: can you explain little more what you need?
a) A headlamp with those position lamps inside (like mine ?);
b) left headlamp
c) [insert your text here]

Are you looking for new (unused) lamps, or used ones...

In North America the 89-91 Legacy is equipped with fairly poor headlights. In addition to inadequate lighting, they are made of plastic which tends to oxidize over time. They end up looking hazy and discolored, which further degrades their performance.

The European Legacy was equipped with real glass headlights, with a much better optical characteristics.

You guys drive on the right hand side of the road, correct? If so, then the beam pattern of your superior glass lenses would work well in North America. They should retrofit directly into our cars, resulting in much better and safer night visibility. Plus, if I'm not mistaken, they could easily be visually aimed without the use of an optical beam setter.

Complete sets of good condition, used European glass headlights for the BC/BF chassis, made 89-91 (what we call "pre-facelift" model) would be highly desirable in the US. I'm sure you could sell several sets, if they would be a reasonable price. We know shipping would be a significant cost. I know I'd want a set.

Yup, only the Brits drive "on the wrong side" arrond here :-)

I will check up about headlights; now that you explained the bckground, everithyng is perfectly clear (like glass :twisted: ). It's funny that we here complain about oxidation of parabolic mirror inside - the ligh comes little "yellowish"). I'll have info in few days - will let you know.

--

I'm kinnda not used to "we don't have that in States" - our guys (Honda etc.) buy most of tuning/styling stuff from your deallers - because there are no usefull (and not to expensive) tuning parts available in Europe (Great Britain is an exception) - especially for Japanese cars;

--

About Slovenia - Slovakia mistke - both are small countrys, and many times mistaken. 8)

So, to double clarify, we're looking for the complete units, both driver's side and passenger's side. Not just the bulbs, but the entire housing and lens units.

I'd be willing to try a set on my '93 Legacy ('92 to '94 lights are interchangeable) if the price was reasonable. Used units would be fine as long as they are not broken, cracked, etc. But I wouldn't mind knowing how much new lights would cost.

If we're still not making sense to you please ask and we'll do our best to explain things. Wait a minute, I got it--here's picture of a headlamp from eBay:

Hmmm, I usually use the term "headlight" instead of "headlamp" so I probably confused you. I guess I use them interchangeably. Anyone know if there is a technical difference?

So, EJ22_SLO, why do your parabolic mirrors inside the headlights turn yellowish?

The highest octane gas where I live is 91 RON at about $2.30 USD per gallon.

so far - i got pretty high price for used (but perfect) headlamps - about 215 USD / set - delivered @ my house... :shock:
i'm planing to check some junkyards in Italy (less than 100miles away) after 15th november (pay day 8) )- i need some stuf for myself (rear wing/spoiler) - it should be much cheaper there... will let you know.

Any ideas on shipment? DHL - expensive but safe,... ordinary post service - cheaper but...

Ummm, I cannot afford that right now so if ultrasonic or THAWA want it they can have it. But things look hopeful that I'll be in a better financial situation in a few weeks so keep us all posted, if you don't mind. I, for one, really appreciate your help!

Like those body color mirrors and door handles, and the black brush guard looks good with the white. Was that guard a dealer option?

Body matched mirrors were available on all LS and LSi's from 90-94, just weren't available on STD, L or Turbo modles. Body matched door handles were available on all LS and LSi models, and 92-94 Turbo models, but weren't available on STD, L or 91 Turbo models. At least in the US

EJ22 we never got a dual range EJ tranny. I want one so bad. The Forester with the dual range in japan has a big reduction gear!

That's awesome that it came with the car. I've never seen a Legacy with a guard like that in the US.

Thanks for the handle info THAWA
