Chipped Black Chrome Repair Solution

Post by Armcomdes »

I have a great way to fix the chipped "blackend" chrome found on the older legacys. I own a 1991 Turbo where the black on the chrome chipped off, especially above the doors. Go to a sign shop that uses outdoor vinyl for lettering. The one I went to had different finishes of black vinyl (from matte to shiny finishes). Ask to buy some long thin strips and then apply it right over the chipped paint. I used shorter strips, so there is a seam. But the long strips would look better. Since it's outdoor sign vinyl, it holds up really nice. You can't tell the difference between the paint and the vinyl unless you look real close. It's pretty inexpensive, looks great and will last a long time if done right!
