Engine RPM Sticking proplem

Post by turbolegacy1991 »

I have a 1991 legacy turbo it was originally converted from and auto to a standard tranny. everything was changed including wiring harness.. i have a problem when i am driving and i rev up to 4000 rpms and go to shift the rmps will stay there and i usually have to hit the gas a few times for them to drop so i can let the clutch out.. does anyone have an ideas where to start

First question: Did you cut the wire going to the "Transmission ID" pin of the ECU?

Locate the wire going to the "Transmission ID" pin and cut it. That will tell the ECU that it's running a manual transmission car. Dave had idling problems with his swap until he cut the wire.

My RPM's used to hang (and my car was and has been a manual).

Turned out to be IAC related.

Check your throttle cable while you're at it. Sometimes it just needs grease and/or adjusting.
