Haha, I suck at autocross.
Went autocrossing yesterday.... My first time, in my automatic wagon, 200k miles, blown shocks, worn springs, wiggly as hell. My first 3 runs I kept missing a gate, or losing it and taking out cones. My 4th run, I made it completely clean, 63 seconds. Not horrible, but in no way good. Hopefully I'll have new shocks and springs before the 28th.

No. It is just an entry fee so you can participate. At least in Sacramento it is only an entry fee, I assume it is the same elsewere.

You pay $25 per event. That usually gives you 4 runs. You either run in morning session or afternoon session, they divide it up into sections in each session. the one that I had was 2 sections, 1, and 2, I ran in group one, and then when group 2 was running, i worked, replacing cones and what have you. It's a total blast.
