Snowboarding at Steven's Pass

Post by Yukonart »

I know Laurel's going to post more pictures, but I figured I'd start things off with this one.

Laurel, Clare and myself went up early this morning to almost no snowfall in the last week, by the time we had made 4-5 runs and took a break for lunch, it had started snowing heavily . . . and our runs were subjected to a few inches of fresh powder. OMG it was awesome!

Anyway. . . here's what our transportation looked like prior to leaving to come home, this afternoon:

For a few more days, yes. She had to go home this afternoon, though.

I'm going to miss Clare.

It STILL hasn't snowed yet here! WTF?

It was almost 70 degrees the other day... in fucking washington DC. Piss me off.

That looks awesome Art! Glad you guys had fun! Nothin better than riding fresh powder. So smooth, so quiet, plus, you look pro if you can ski/board in powder.

. . . and holy shit. I need to show you how to resize in Paint, or something. It'll decrease the file size by at least 100%. Most of mine in that resolution are less than 100k. ;)

Unless you're going to host them on a server that I pay for storage and bandwidth on. ;)

Seriously. . .. unless someone wants a high-res image, it's best to use Paint for the resizing . . . I'm only saying this because there's nearly 10 megs of photos in there. . . when it could easily take less than 3 megs to host them all. I know I've got tons of space. . . but remember there are dozens of folders. . . and hundreds of people DLing this content on a monthly basis.

I'll show you sometime. Image quality suffers. . . but on images of this size, the decrease in resolution is not very noticable. :P

In that case, I'm goign to have you start dumping your card on my PC, too. . . so I can preserve pictures in full res during my backups. . . just in case. I don't see any reason to have a digital camera unless the full resolution is going to be preserved in the originals. . . .

I'm sorry, I'm just a photography nazi.

Hardy. . . I use JaguarPC. I have an awesome plan through them, but like everyone else, I don't have infinite storage or bandwidth. There has to be a reasonable limit to everything, after all.

I need to get to my admin panel, but I think I'm currently hosting a few hunder megabytes of images, etc. I get to host up to a gigabyte, but the bandwidth is the issue. . . some of these images are hosted on multiple boards. . . some of which get a lot of traffic.

Sorry, Laurel. . . . I'm probably overreacting. We just need to set up some kind of archiving standard. We have shitloads of hard disk space between our two PCs. . . I don't mind dumping this ish on my PC if you don't want to laden yours with the full-sized images. :)

I've heard nothing but good things about jaguarpc. If bandwidth is an issue you might want to consider going to surpasshosting. So far they've been great to me. Kelley uses them too, but seems to have a less reliable server. I'd recommend them to you as they have a buttload of bandwidth for ya and their prices are very reasonable. Most of the features seem about the same as what you currently have. Anyway check em out: www.surpasshosting.com

Well. . . the gigabit deal is awesome. . . just haven't checked bandwidth trends lately to see if that's even going to be an issue anytime soon.

I'm paid-up through the next year, anyway. . . so I'll just have to see what's up before I do anything else. ;)

Yeah, Jaguar's been great to me, so far. Almost 0% downtime on my server, and pretty derned fast access times.
